Kael's POV "Sorry, boss." Elijah clears his throat, tearing his eyes away from her. "Better," I grunt. "The doctor is already on his way to check on her, and I think she’ll be staying here for a while until everything settles down," I say as we leave the room. "What exactly did you do?" Elijah asks, confirming my suspicion that he wasn't listening earlier. "You didn’t hear anything I said?" I ask. If it were someone else, I’d already be on the edge of getting angry, but it’s Elijah. We’ve been through hell and back together, and I wouldn’t trade him for anything. Yes, I don’t trust him fully—yet. I don’t think I trust anyone fully.
