Inaya thought she would never see him again. She was wrong.
In class, Professor Smith announced, "For your final business project, you will work in pairs. This project is 50% of your grade."
Inaya prayed she would get a nice, quiet partner.
"Inaya and Zayan," the professor said.
The pen dropped from Inaya's hand. No. Not him.
The whole class gasped and looked at her with pity. Zayan was already looking at her from the back bench, his cold eyes dark and amused.
"No, sir, please change," Inaya stood up quickly. "I can't work with him."
Zayan slowly stood up too. He was so tall, his presence filled the room. He walked towards her desk.
"What's wrong, scholarship girl? Scared?" he whispered, only for her to hear. "You should be."
"I am not scared of you," she lied. Her voice was shaking.
"Good," he smirked. "Because from today, you will come to my private office every evening at 6 PM to work on our project. Don't be late. I hate waiting."
He placed a black card on her desk. It had an address embossed in gold. His private building.
"If you don't come," he leaned in closer, his breath on her ear, "I will make sure you fail this year. And you will lose your scholarship."
Inaya's face went pale. Her scholarship was everything. Her parents had worked so hard for it.
She had no choice. She had to go to the devil's den.
At 6 PM sharp, she stood in front of the tallest building in the city. The Mafia Empire headquarters.
