Emily’s hands shook as she placed her phone down. The voice on the other end had been cold, threatening, and unmistakably serious.
Jack noticed immediately. “Emily, what’s wrong?”
She hesitated, her heart pounding. Should she tell him? What if this was just the beginning?
Jack stepped closer, tilting her chin up so she had no choice but to look at him. “Don’t shut me out.”
She swallowed hard. “Someone just called me. They said… they told me to stay away from you.”
Jack’s expression darkened instantly. “What?”
“They said I don’t belong in your world. And if I don’t leave, I’ll regret it.”
Jack clenched his jaw, pulling out his phone. “I’ll have my team trace the number—”
“No,” Emily said quickly, grabbing his wrist. “I don’t want to make this worse.”
Jack stared at her, his frustration evident. “Emily, this isn’t okay. No one should be threatening you.”
She sighed, running a hand through her hair. “I knew this would happen. People don’t want us together.”
Jack cupped her face gently. “I don’t care what they want. I care about you.”
Tears burned in her eyes. “But what if I can’t handle this?”
Jack’s grip tightened slightly. “Then tell me now. If you want out, I won’t stop you. But if you’re staying, I need you to trust me.”
Emily took a shaky breath. She was scared—terrified, actually. But she knew one thing for sure.
She didn’t want to lose him.
“I trust you,” she whispered.
Jack’s eyes softened. “Then we fight this together.”

The next morning, the situation escalated.
Emily woke up to a flood of messages. But this time, they weren’t just from strangers.
There were emails from gossip magazines offering money for “her side of the story.” DMs from people claiming to be Jack’s exes, warning her that he would break her heart.
And the worst—pictures of her home, her workplace, places she had been the past few days.
Her hands trembled as she scrolled through them. Someone was watching her.
A fresh wave of panic crashed over her.
Jack was still asleep on the couch, having insisted on staying over to make sure she was okay. Emily hesitated before gently shaking him awake.
“Jack,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
His eyes opened immediately. “What’s wrong?”
She handed him her phone. “They know where I live.”
Jack sat up instantly, scrolling through the messages, his expression turning darker with every second.
“That’s it,” he said, standing up and grabbing his phone. “I’m not letting this go any further.”
Emily watched as he dialed a number.
“Get my security team to Emily’s place now,” he said firmly. “And find out who’s behind this.”
He hung up and turned back to her. “You’re not staying here alone anymore.”
Emily shook her head. “Jack, I can’t just run—”
“You’re not running,” he interrupted. “You’re staying safe.”
She exhaled sharply. “This is crazy.”
Jack stepped forward, placing his hands on her shoulders. “I know. But I meant what I said—we’re in this together.”
Emily stared at him, her heart pounding.
She had a choice. She could walk away, let fear dictate her future.
Or she could stand beside him and fight.
She took a deep breath. “Okay.”
Jack’s lips curved into a small smile. “Okay?”
She nodded. “Okay.”
Jack pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
No matter what came next, they would face it together.
