Chapter 6 : Awkward Limo Ride

646 Words
The rest of the flight was mostly uneventful and soon we landed. Everyone split ways to their hotel and I had a limo pick up Sebastian and I. I knew Grayson, Bridget, Sebastian, and I all ended up at the same hotel for the trip because it’s one of the higher-end hotels so I expected to see them there. The limo arrived before their cab did, so I offered them a ride. “You guys want a ride to the resort?” I questioned as the driver got out and opened the door to the limo for Sebastian and I. Bridget went to refuse, but before she could say anything Grayson said, “Would you mind? The cab could be another thirty minutes!” “C’mon, then,” I smiled to myself as Seb and I climbed into the limo. Sebastian and I sat on the opposite side of Bridget and Grayson. “You guys are also at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, correct?” I double-checked. “Yup, that’s the place. We couldn’t be more grateful to Bridget’s dad for paying for everything!” Grayson admitted and I smiled timidly. “Yeah, weddings are expensive. I’m so grateful the company has picked up so much revenue in the past few years so hopefully, I’ll never have to worry about stuff like that again,” I responded, fiddling with Sebastian’s fingers as we were holding hands. “Yeah, when did you become so well off? You never mentioned anything about it!” Grayson asked. “About a year and a half ago, Jensen Industries bought out some rather large companies. We rose in ranks rather quickly. Last year we hired a CEO, so Lacey and I don’t have to control everything, giving us a chance to extend our branches. I’m also now co-owner of some other companies and businesses which have also taken off. The luck of the draw just dealt me a great deck of cards,” I explained. Soon, we were pulling up outside of the resort and I smiled. “Next time we come here, Bash, we have got to stay at Montage Kapalua Bay, it’s expensive but it’s so beautiful. I stayed there last year for a conference and fell in love. You have to book the rooms early, so I couldn’t get reservations this time, but we have got to come back and stay there next time,” I told Sebastian quietly, but still loud enough for the other two to hear. “Isn’t that place over a thousand dollars per day?” Bridget asked, mouth slightly agape. “Last time I checked it was almost two thousand, I believe,” I responded. I don’t know why I found myself trying to outshine Bridget, but I couldn’t help it. She was getting married to my best friend, and although we had been apart for many years now, it still hurts my heart a little bit. “But, let’s not discuss that now. Are you guys excited?” I smiled brightly. It was a fake smile, but the best one I could muster. “Totally excited. Wait until you see the venue, it is so beautiful!” Bridget gushed and I smiled lightly. He deserves to be happy, I reminded myself. The driver opened the car door for us to exit and I had already paid him so once the luggage was being carried in by bell boys, I walked into the front desk and checked into the suite I had reserved. Sebastian kept his hand on the small of my back as I talked and soon we were on the elevator with everyone. We all ended up being on the same floor only a couple of rooms down from each other. “We’ll see you guys around!” Grayson called with a smile as we entered our separate suites.
