THIRTY-SIX Her cowardice only lasted a few seconds. The danger wouldn’t go away just because she buried her head in the sand. Tulsi opened her eyes to see that there, just a few inches away, was the glint of her blade. Her finger slid across the floor and curled around the handle. Wreck was intent on his task, catching glimpses over the back of the couch and around the side, returning fire whenever he could. Shouting joined the gunfire and a door slammed.
