Chapter 25 Emma heard nothing for hours. She sat by the telephone until she realised it was wireless and tucked the handset into her jacket pocket. Wandering the house without Rohan lost its excitement and mystery and she ached for him. She walked from room to room, killing time and wishing back the morning so they could start again. She would refuse breakfast and stay in bed with her husband, pleasuring him until it was time for the train ride back to their son. Then they would leave, hop into his friend’s taxi and be gone.
