Chapter 28
Exhaustion drove Emma to sleep, cancelling out all pretence at bravery. She woke up in the wide double bed, her boots missing and a blanket pulled up over her shoulders. Rohan’s scent shrouded her, fooling her into believing he was within arm’s length. His musky maleness and the aftershave he wore permeated her consciousness and Emma heaved a sigh of relief.
Daylight scattered her with dappled kisses through the skylight and she screwed up her eyes and turned sideways. Rohan’s empty pillow drove her into a sitting position so fast, it made her head spin. She stumbled to the bathroom and sat on the floor tiles, pushed between the toilet and shower cubicle. Rohan’s towel hung over the rail, still damp from his early shower and Emma threaded it off and let it fall into her lap. H
