Chapter 3 - Parents

961 Words
“Dante, you can’t be serious right now.” I checked the clock on the left of my side, and it read ‘5:30’ a.m.’ “Its only 5:30 and you can certainly see it’s not time yet.” I can sense he rolled his eyes at me. He took the pillow and blanket from me causing me to let out an involuntary squeal that was covered by his hand. “Aurora, we have no time. My parents will be looking for me soon. We need to leave.” I huffed and groggily got out of the bed. When I looked for Dante, he was already dressed and at the hospital bedroom door. I walked straight passed him to the information desk to sign him out so we could leave this place. The nurse behind the desk gave me the paper and I signed it with my signature. When I was about to put my last signature, I felt a mouth on my ear, “We are too late Aurora. They are already here.” I hurriedly scribbled my signature on the paper and looked at him puzzled. “You mean your parents?” He nodded, not taking his eyes away from the door. In my mind I was thinking about why he was trying to avoid his parents. For what ever reason, he did not want to see them. I was too caught up at looking at Dante’s face that I didn’t see his parents come inside. I almost fainted when I saw Dante’s mom. This woman looked like she just came out of a fashion magazine and became real! I saw them walking up to us and I felt a little underdress compared to these people. “So,  these are your parents?” I asked him, he sighed and said, “Yes they are.” His parents finally reached us, and I was about to say hi when I saw the disgusted look Dante’s mother gave me. Mr. Blanc must have seen her face and he began to speak. “Hello Dante and Miss.” Mr. Blanc looked back at Dante who had a hard face on. “Can I speak with you for second son?” The tension in this place was eating me alive and I think that’s why the nurse behind the desk left. Dante nodded at his father but whispered in my ear before he left, “Be careful with my mother. She can be feisty and bossy at times.” Now it was just Mrs. Blanc and I. I was so sure she was not the one going to initiate the conversation, so I started. “So, Mrs. Blanc, how are you?” I asked her, she looked at me like I was a rotten fish. Hey, I have feelings woman. She completely ignored me and looked at her nails. “I don’t know how you got Dante here but stay away from him.” She finally looked at me and pointed her sharp nail at me, “He has a fiancée back home and I don’t think she would be very keen on someone taking her soon-to-be-husband.” I just had to stop Mrs. Blanc from talking, “Did you just say soon-to-be? What does that mean? Are they going to have a wedding soon?” Mrs. Blanc smirked, “You aren’t as stupid as I thought you were. Yes, they are going to have a wedding and Dante came over here to give out invitations.” She looked up and down and rolled her eyes, “But I guess someone didn’t want that to happen.” I was dumbfounded in my seat. I did not mess up Dante giving his invitations out. I just so happened to pass by a wrecked plane and rescue a man. “I can’t believe you’re blaming me for this. I had nothing to do with Dante ending up in the hospital.” Mrs. Blanc was about to answer back but her husband interrupted, “Honey our flight is in an hour and I don’t think its best if you argue with Aurora right now.” Mrs. Blanc got out of her seat but not without scowling at me before she left. Mr. Blanc gave me an apologetic expression, “I am so sorry for my wife’s behavior. I am serious she needs to get that checked.” He took the seat where his wife was sitting. “I came over here. Aurora, to thank you for saving Dante’s life. If you never found him in time, I feared that he might have died but thank God for you.” I smiled at him. I saw that he was way different that his wife. He actually was the good parent. “You can talk to Dante. He is waiting outside for you.” With that, both of us got out of seats and went outside, Mr. Blanc going to his Jeep and I to Dante. Dante turned around and hugged me tightly, not even letting me get a word in. “Aurora, I’m going to miss you when I go back to France. I’ll be waiting.” Then I felt something being pushed into my hands and Dante sped off into his father’s jeep and the car took off. I was really hoping I would get a kiss before he left even though I knew he was engaged; it still did not bother me that much. I looked in my hands and there was a plane ticket and a note attached to it. ‘Dear Aurora, I am sorry I didn’t tell you about me being engaged. I am getting me mom told you but it doesn’t matter right now. I want you to be in France by tomorrow evening. This is a plane ticket to come. We still need to do that sleepover. I am not going to lie. This was the most thoughtful note anyone has ever sent me. I felt really bad now. What if Dante’s fiancée found out about this? I know I am going to be classified as a slut but I can’t let that stop me.
