Chapter 13 - The Secret

Dante's P.O.V

"So, Dante, who are you bringing to the party tonight?" Chad asked suddenly.

I let out a gleeful sigh and answered, "I am taking Aurora with me."

Chad's smile did not falter, not even a little. It seemed to grow brighter by the second.

"I am happy for you Dante. I really am. After Britannia, I never thought you would find love again, but you did." I nodded my head grimly.

"She was my first love. I don't know how I will react if I ever get the chance to see her again."

Chad patted my back, "Let's just hope that those feelings do not come back when Aurora is there or around." I sighed and Chad trotted out of my office.

I peered at my phone and I had two missed calls: both from Aurora.

I dialed her number and it began to ring. A few seconds later, I heard the phone pick up and I was met with a male's deep voice. "Hello Mr. Blanc. I have awaited this call for a long time."

My curiosity got the best of me, "Who am I speaking too?"

A dark laugh touched my ears, “You will find out soon enough Mr.Blanc. Just keep your precious girlfriend close to you." And the call dropped.

My protectiveness of Aurora was seeping through my entire being. I just had to call Max and make certain that Aurora was safe.

I dialed Max's number and he picked up automatically. "Hey Dante." I skipped the formalities and went straight to the predicament.

"Where is Aurora?"

Max sounded a little taken back by the sound of my frantic voice. "Aurora, Danielle and Jane are downstairs eating sandwiches. Is there anything wrong?"

I rubbed my sweaty palm over my worried face, “I had just called Aurora's phone and a male's voice had a picked up. I do not know what he wants but it sounds dangerous. He told me to keep my precious girlfriend close to me. I wander if he will be there when I take Aurora to the business party."

Max huffed, "He might be there. If he knows about Aurora and had her phone number, you need to buy her a new phone and get her a new number."

I chuckled, "You are right Max. Make sure the girls are safe."

"I will. Take care man." Max said.

"You too." And we ended the call.

Aurora's P.O.V

I just love the sweet taste of sandwiches. They make my taste buds pop gleefully.

"Aurora, can I speak to you privately for a second?" Danielle asked quietly. I nodded and we made our way to a corner.

"Do you have feelings for my brother Dante?"

I almost choked on my own saliva. I looked Danielle deep in her eyes and spoke. "I would be lying if I said I didn't." Her face lit up with joy.

She came to give me a big hug which I gladly returned. "You two are going to make such a good family. I will love my nieces and nephews."

I rested my sweaty palm on the wall, contemplating what my choice of words will be, "Danielle, I haven't been totally honest with Dante. I have a huge secret that I need to tell him."

She gave me a serious that said 'I am all ears'. I blew out a breath and began telling my heartfelt story. "I was abused and pregnant."
