Chapter 17 - A Half Truth is A Whole Lie

Aurora's P.O.V

After Dante and I's little breakdown moment, I started to feel much better.

I didn't have to worry about Xavier no more. That chapter of my life has now been closed and a new chapter has begun: a life with Dante Blanc.

"Whatcha thinking?" Dante asked me while kissing my head.

I smiled and looked at Dante. "Well I have been thinking about us and what our future has in store."

He shifted nervously and scratched his head. "Aurora, I have to be completely honest with you," He looked me straight in the eyes and was about to speak when he was interrupted.

"Yes brother. Tell Aurora how you savagely broke another girl's heart just for money and better yet, you took her life away."

Dante clenched his teeth at Markus' words and looked his direction.

"You don't know the exact story Markus." He retaliated.

Markus laughed. "I was there! I was there through everything that happened that night! While you sulked in your bed, who was there to comfort her in her time of need?! I was there!" He shouted angerly.

The look on Dante's face showed it all. He looked lost for the most part by what Markus said.

"You went to her house that night?"

Markus rolled his eyes at such an idiotic question. "Keep up with the program Dante. Both of us knew that that wasn't going to end well."

Dante looked aggravated and wanted this conversation to end. "Let’s just skip the flashback. What are you really here for Markus?"

Markus had a sly smile on his face and looked at me. "It is not a what but a whom I am here for," Dante looked between Markus and I saw the connection. In reality, I was scared out of my life. I don’t want to be the center of a love triangle. Someone always gets their hearts broken.

"You are not taking Aurora away from me and that’s final." Dante said finally.

"Aurora, Dante has been giving you this whole lie about his life ever since you got here."

"Markus shut up!" Dante shouted lividly as the veins in his head started to show.

"No, you shut up jackass. It’s my time to speak. Dante was once engaged before he met Victoria. I know you know about Victoria when our mom told you Dante was engaged when yall first met. Dante's first fiancée was Britannia. She was the love of his life until Dante suddenly broke it off with her, not wanting anything to do with her. Victoria soon came into the picture and those two was engaged and that broke Britannia's heart when she found out."

My head was spinning by the time I processed all the info Markus was giving me.

"Aurora don’t believe him. He isn't saying what really happen- Aurora? Aurora? Markus call the damn ambulance. She's losing consciousness!"

I couldn't hear anymore words after that. I just wanted to fall in deep sleep.

My heart was shattering by the second. Why Dante? Why did it have to be this way?

NEXT MORNING......

BEEP...BEEP....BEEP

"Aurora."

Ugh. My head hurts really bad and I can’t seem to open my eyes.

"Aurora wake up please. I need to see those beautiful eyes again."

I tried harder to open my eyes, but I couldn't. It was like they were crazy glued to each other.

I soon heard crying. It wasn't a child's cry; it was a man's cry.

"Aurora, I need you. I am sorry for not telling you sooner," He cried out, "I was so foolish. I let my pride get in the way of us. I just wanted to love you and have you for myself without no interruptions, but it seems like the world had other plans."

I couldn't take this no more. My memory started to come back to me, and Dante's voice submerged.

It broke my heart to no ends to hear Dante cry. He wasn't crying for money or power; he was crying for me.

The broken-hearted girl that was r***d, beaten and bruised for being herself.

I felt tears flowing down my cheeks and a finger brushing them away.

"Don’t cry Aurora. I hate seeing you cry especially how I found out how Xavier treated you. I'm going to beat his ass when I get to the police station. That’s a promise that I will surely keep."
