Chapter 4

1190 Words
It isn't the full moon yet but everything here feels nice, but I refuse to get carried away. Not when I’m quite aware of the wicked best friend I have and the plans she has for me with our Alpha. Now, I’m on a mission. The location was picturesque, with sprawling green meadows stretching out before them. Colorful blankets were scattered across the grass where quite a number of werewolves were sitting down and having fun already. The blankets on the grass looked quite inviting so I made to sit down too but Andrea suddenly tug and my hand. “I wanna show you to a few friends. Let’s go say hi.” Well, it is something she always does. She is the social butterfly and therefore has quite a number of friends unlike me who isn’t all that social. Not like no one knows me. Of course, I am the daughter of the gamma and chief warrior. Not to boast but I’m actually one of the most beautiful young female werewolves in Moonlight Hollow Pack with my pretty pair of blue eyes. So yeah, I’m quite popular in the Pack just that I’m not that good at building relationships, making friends, hold conversations and attending social gatherings. Andrea would always try to make me attend social events and I do only attend a few. “Come on Emma,” Andrea tugged more on my arm and tried to pull me to a group of her friends that were standing just a few steps away but then I decided to do things differently this time. “I’m not going,” I muttered lowly. “I’ll just sit here. I don’t think I want to roam about. Not going. I’ll greet your friends later. “ “Ha come on!” she laughed. “You think I’ll just let you sit here? I didn’t bring you here so you’ll just sit here all through. You should meet new people or what do you think? Told ya you might even get to meet your mate. That is that is even the main reasons the Lupine Court organize gatherings like this.” ‘Well, of course, that is the plan, isn’t it? Running into Anderson by you both arranged coincidence,’ I sighed inwardly. In my past life, she got me to meet a lot of her friends. It was exhausting and suddenly, I did not see her around me again. Like she suddenly was out of my sight and that was how I walked forward and bumped into Anderson. I took hold of her hand that was tugging at my arm before telling her plainly, “I really am not going, okay? You go ahead and greet your friends. I’d just stay here and watch the whole thing. I’ll greet whoever of them comes my way.” She paused and turned to stare at my face then withdrew her hand. “Oh really? Anything wrong?” Andrea asked, her eyes scanning my face. “Well, nothing,” I chuckled then shrugged. “Just don’t feel like.” Then I lowered my butt and sat on the blanket. “Okay,” she muttered lowly. “Just be good,” she added, with her brown eyes still on me. One would think she really cared about my safety or was concerned about me just staying alone but I knew better now and only found her attitude quite creepy and disgusting. “I won’t leave here,” I said to her with a smirk, as if to tell her she could go ahead and re-strategize her plan but well, she wouldn’t know I have an idea of anything and therefore she only laughed. “Don’t you leave there. I can’t start looking for you!” ‘Wait. Like I’m some kid?’ Anyways, I decided to ask, “Do you know Anderson in any way?” She kept talking about the picnic like she doesn’t know him. But my past life had shown me they know each other and set up everything. Andrea looked at me and chuckled at my questions. “like you won’t if I know the soon-to-be Alpha? I don’t! I wish to meet him here since I heard he would appear here too.” “Would be back. Don’t leave here,” she said once more and walked off. I watched her walk away and scoffed. But anyways, the goal isn’t to make them suspicious that I knew their true colors but to catch them unaware and outrun them. I wanted to see how she’d get me to meet Anderson if I just sit down here at the back. My eyes fell on the blue bead on my wrist and I sighed. ‘They want this.’ I sighed once more. ‘I promise not to let anyone else know about this.’ Over thirty minutes passed and I just went on immersing myself in the atmosphere but not forgetting I can’t lose myself totally. The picnic was vibrant and I simply just enjoyed the lively environment. Roasted fish and meats were passed across at some points and I even had to greet and converse with a few others. Just then, a girl with a stylish fringe cut approached me. "Andrea sent me," she blurted out breathlessly. "She said to come to get you because she sprained her ankle. She needs your help." My brow furrowed when I heard that as such had not happened in my past life, not during this picnic. Well, turns out this is the only method Andrea could come up with to lure me to bump into Anderson. I glanced at the girl and studied her intently. She looked scared and agitated like Andrea had actually sprained her ankle, but after keeping my scrutinizing blue eyes on her for way too long with my head tilted, her expression shifted. Like she was wondering why I was staring at her that way or that she was scared I saw through their lies. I was trying to read her. ‘Is she a part of them or Andrea is only using her for this period to prank me?’ Anyways, I got up and simply said to the girl, "Lead the way." We made our way through the crowd and I made sure to keep my eyes on the fringed-hair girl as she was walking fast ahead of me. But as we got further and further, she suddenly disappeared. Well, I actually saw her suddenly duck behind someone and she probably thought I did not see her. I decided to ignore that and just go with the flow. The girl had actually taken me through the route Andrea had taken me through in my past life before I began to wander around when I could no longer find her. I had suddenly seen lighted candles along the way and followed it. Now I knew there was more to those candles. Anderson had then deliberately stationed somewhere along the part, waiting for me to wander and bump into him. Just that this time around, I wasn’t wandering. I would be walking straight to meet him.
