I put my bag on the hospital chair and watched David asleep. He was no longer intubated and the color was back in his face, filling my heart with hope. I let my fingers run through his soft hair gently so as not to wake him. Then I sat down in the armchair to continue watching him. Suddenly, my cell phone beeped. I searched for it in my bag and realized it was the new device Damien had given me. When I saw his name flash up on the screen, I almost dropped the phone.
