CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE Across from John Steel’s hotel, people had started to gather by the restaurant. Greeting one another with ‘ Hey’s’ and ‘tajjeb li narak.’ The music's sound grew louder. It was apparent to Steel that the people here ate late, rather than the typical fed by six and in pyjamas by nine that he had been accustomed to as a child. The night air was warm despite being almost nine o’clock, but the cool breeze took the edge off the heat. Steel stool quietly, holding a glass of local red wine he had gotten from the hotel bar.
