CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE At eight-forty, the phone in the secure office rang. Alpha picked up the receiver and sat back in his office chair. It creaked with age. ‘Yes,’ Alpha said. ‘The cop went to the house,’ said Beta. ‘And?’ said Alpha. ‘They secured him and the girl,’ said Beta. ‘Why was he there – for Foster?’ asked Alpha. ‘They are friends – but I think it was more for the woman.
