Gellerion, crying over his dead friend's body, wasn't able to get together. So little he knew about him and still so deep was his pain. Watching from behind, Dendrick approached the boy and tried to ease his sorrow, but it wasn't a good idea. As he got closer, ready to say a word, Gellerion shut him up.
"You said he is going to be alright. Don't worry Gellerion, Norrick will pass through it! Now, he is… He is..." You moron!"
"I am sor…"
"Of course you are, but that won´t help him, will it? Why we didn´t get help from somebody, why did we just watch him pass away slowly?"
"I… I am sorry!" Dendrick said disconsolately. The woebegone giant fell on his knee burdened by the disappointment of the young boy.
"We have to get together, Norrick would wish us to remain strong."
"Yes, that's the first reasonable thing I have heard from you." Said Gellerion right towards him with hate, even though the older man didn't do anything bad to him. He was carried by the avalanche of emotions and couldn't accept the situation so blaming others for it seems like a better option.
His eyes expressed his inner storm better than anything. They were deep black flashing in red and purple. The anxiety and rage were obvious, but something different was there too. The sign of heartache and regret. Tears, falling like a cold autumn rain from his tear all the way down his cheeks.
"I won't leave it be like that. I am going to chop the b***h's in two, but before that, I will slowly break every single bone in her body. I want her to suffer. She will pay for it!" Rising anger got him completely under control. "She will beg me for mercy. Maybe I will kill her… once." Chuckled so badly so as Dendrick heard it, spine-tingling went through his body.
Spotting the fact that Dendrick backed off, made a stop to his evil laugh.
"I am sorry. That was a strange feeling, almost like it wasn't me" with an obvious sign of confusion, he scratches his forehead.
"It's fine. I've seen scarier things than you, but I must admit it surprised me… in a bad way." he was unsure if a lecturing comment about it was in place so he let it be. "Anyway," he continues "are you sure about the vengeance? Should we…?"
"Yes, I am pretty sure about it, and there is no 'We?" Gellerion interrupted him, with obvious fury in his eyes. Lust for her blood was crystal clear.
"I will go with you." He tried to persuade Gellerion.
"You will NOT! This is between me and her."
"He was my friend too." Snarled at him.
"I am aware of it, but you are hurt and your presence would only make everything harder. You better stay here." From the tone of boy´s voice was obvious it wasn´t worrying that made Gellerion stop letting him joining on the expedition. Simply, he didn´t want Dendrick by his side, not right now.
Gellerion quickly packed several things, took the blade, and got ready to deliver justice for Melliana. Before leaving he said his farewell to Dendrick and then approached the body.
"I am sorry for not saving you... Goodbye, friend." Slowly kissed him on the already cold forehead and then turned to Dendrick. "If it would be possible, wait for me with the funeral"
"Of course. Come back soon Gellerion."
"I will, don´t worry. Just after I finish the nasty business." Those words were joyful to him.
...
Young warrior arrived again at the spot, but this time he gave a loud signal to Melliana about his arrival. "I am coming for you!" shouted as he walked down from the path.
Even though it was far from the place where the road was, she heard it. "And I am ready for you, darling," laughed demonically.
During the time Gellerion was getting closer and closer to his revenge, Dendrick moved Norrick´s body to the workshop, where no insect would begin eating his flesh. There was a large table suitable for this purpose. As he was moving him, the letter hidden in his pocket dropped out, but he didn´t notice it. After some time looking on Norrick, when he turned back he spotted the paper lying on the wooden floor. A royal seal of the king Maurice was on top of it, meaning it contains a crucial message.
He broke it and began to read:
Dear Norrick,
I hope you are doing great. It was a while since we´ve met. Even though you don´t like the Capitol, you must visit me. General Oleg told me about the business you discussed together. In order to that, I am sending Hambic to help you solve this difficult situation. He will arrive in 5 days after the full moon.
Sorry but the stubborn mage is working on something, what seems not fitting for king´s eyes.
Regards,
Your friend, your king,
Maurice
That seated him on the nearby chair and brought tears even in his eyes. How could he forget about Maurice´s and Norrick´s friendship? Short after, he realised the full moon was 4 days ago, which gave him one more day to recover. He remembered clearly while it was the strangest full moon in his long life. Usual pale sphere, on the day of a full moon, was red with lines similar to a cracked egg, but the next day it was back in normal.
I guess I will have to take care of it.
...
Getting closer to the nest, Gellerion was getting more and more furious. Every plant, bush or smaller tree that appeared in his way, was slashed by his blade. He was passing by big rocks a creature threw on them before but sometimes out of nowhere, a small mound of rocks were on places where they weren´t before.
Not knowing how he remembered all this, arrived at the nest, stopped his march and hid right behind one of the larger trees. After strategic reconnaissance, he spotted, there is a big hole instead of the several smaller cave entrances. The roof of them was gone. These are the big ones. What about the mounds?
Suddenly Melliana walked nearby the entrance of the main, the biggest, cave. Seeing her, he couldn´t help himself and rushed on the b***h. Big, dark steel maul with blue, demonic fire inside landed on the ground right in front of him smashing it with incredible power. His body was sent flying by the bash, but after hard lending, he got quickly up, stepped a few steps back and raised his sword.
Hand holding the maul wasn´t any creature´s he knew. Big pointy claws, going from the massive dark fingers, covered with skin looking like obsidian, dark purple, almost black stone, were its secondary weapon. Although the armour wasn´t united. There were fissures blazing, with the same colour as was the flame in the maul, all over its body. It had two spiky points, sticking backwards from the elbows. Moving up to the head, every brave man would s**t himself from the view on the beast. Two large sharp horns, growing from both sides of its head, ending close to the maw in which it had a few teeth weren´t the scariest thing. The most terrifying were its eye sockets. They were empty although the blaze filled them with almost white colour as it was the hottest place on his body. The creature was standing on its two, covered in the shadows. When it fully narrowed rudimentary wings on its back could be seen.
Melliana roared with laughter "Let me introduce you." still chuckled. "This is Gormogh, an ancient demon woken by your last visit, and in my opinion, he seems angry about it."
"Hey ugly." Smiled Gellerion as he saw a real challenge in his opponent. "This time it won´t be so easy? Slaughtering the spider was just fine for me, nothing hard."
Hearing these words made Melliana mad. Her, before dark purple, shadows turned the exact same colour like Gormogh´s flames. "Seize him!" commanded and with a quite, sinister growl demon started moving Gellerion´s direction. His steps were heavy and long, therefore the earth shook after every single step. What to expect from almost 7 metres tall, massive creature?
The first strike made by Gormogh with his second, even larger, left hand created a rift, going right to the place, where Gellerion was standing in fighting stance 3 metres far from the demon. Within the last second, he managed to roll out of its area and prepared for the next strike. "Let´s dance ugly!" The smile didn´t leave him, not even when he saw how fast can Gormogh be. Nobody would expect it from somebody so large and strong.¨
His opponent was preparing for another massive bash with the maul. Gellerion used the situation, leapt to the monster, bounced off the stone laying there, and with a powerful swing of his two-handed sword hit demon´s hand, landing safely behind him. Not visible damage was on its obsidian skin, but still it seemed Gellerion´s strike caused significant pain, as the abomination roared loudly. During the scream Gormogh fiercely turned behind and surprised young warrior with a devastating strike, throwing Gellerion on the stone wall next to the caves. By the strength of the demon dropped the boy his sword, landing far from him. Melliana joined in and lifted the blade with just one hand from the ground. How the hell? Thought Gellerion. Even I have problems to handle it with a single hand.
"You looking for this?" Chuckled "Do you want it back?" Proposed with a smirk.
"Yes! Be honest and give me the weapon!" shouted back to her.
"I think not!" Smirked and her eyes blazed with vileness. "Dear child," clicked her tongue "there is no honesty or honour when it comes to fighting about your life. You are so naive and so was your friend, Norrick."
Gellerion was relatively calm during the fight, but hearing about his friend, who was killed by her, pissed him off and reminded how badly he wanted his vengeance.
Ready for a final strike, Gormogh put down his maul and prepared to daze Gellerion with the smaller hand. He would probably kill him with the second one from this distance. The boy just placed his hands to defend himself from the strike. The demon glanced on Melliana for permission. After she nodded, his hand got in motion, and when it landed resounding bang could be heard.
The dust settled and wailing of the monster sounded. His hand didn´t touch down Gellerion, but collided into a dark purple barrier right in front of his face. Looking at the situation in his anger state, the boy got up. Gormogh tried to get through the shield with more punches even with his stronger hand, unsuccessfully. When it didn't work he took his maul and bashed with it harder than before. He made every effort to stop him, but without any sign of damaging the barrier or slowing the boy.
Gellerion shut down the shield and before the Demon could do anything, grabbed his whole body into invincible hands. Only purple indication of spots where the creature was held could be seen. Gormogh roared loudly as Gellerion was lifting him from the ground and squeezed, cracking his skin. It was the only thing he could actually do right now. When he was 1 meter above the ground, Gellerion turned with him, facing Melliana. Now it was him smirking diabolically. "Catch!" said quietly.
He threw the large creature like it was a piece of rock at the entrance of the biggest cave where Melliana was standing. She quickly disappeared in shadows, but Gormogh didn´t have such luck. Thanks to his size, he wasn´t able to get through the entrance. Gellerion still pushed him to the wall, while he was gathering the power. When cumulated enough for his purpose, he released it, creating a wave of energy, striking Gormogh with incredible power, the rock behind him broke into small, sharp pieces, flying through the skies. With ending of a powerful roar, the grey pieces were replaced with tiny fragments of obsidian, followed by a blue explosion. The whole nest was destroyed.
Exhausted Gellerion spotted a river, which wasn´t visible before, flowing nearby. He trudged to it, drawing his sword behind, and collapsed in.
...
Melliana formed into her human look and kneeled. "I am sorry, master. He is much more powerful than we thought."
