Chapter Two

947 Words
Hope’s P.O.V “Here you go dad” I said as I handed him a cup of coffee. “Thanks kiddo. Have you heard anything from the company in Manchester?” He asked as he took the cup of coffee from my hand. “Not yet. I am still waiting for their call. So Hannah left?” I asked as I took a seat beside him. “Yeah. She had to leave early due to some work related issues” “Hmmm” “Kiddo, about what you saw last night” he said trailing off. “Dad...” I said holding his hand in mine “... I am not mad at you or something. Truth be told I was a bit shocked when I saw they both of you together yesterday. A part of me was expecting this to happen one day or the other.” I chuckled. “She makes you happy Dad. And I want you to be happy. So you have a green flag from my side in terms of your relationship with Han. You don’t have to explain anything. I smiled. “Thanks kiddo. Do you think Gwen will be okay about it?” He asked. “I think a part of her already considers you as a father same way a part of the twins consider Han as their mother” *** After a very long exhausting week, I certainly didn’t imagine that I would be spending my day off with three energetic kids playing around in the park. Hey, exhausted or not, its just worth seeing their adorable little faces burst out with joy. From a far I could see a guy sitting alone, deep in thought. He seems oddly familiar. I don’t know but something about him reminds me of someone. I just can’t put my finger on it. I turned my attention back to the kids who were now playing on the swing set. After a while they came running to me and I enveloped all three of them into a warm hug. “Had fun” I asked. “A lot” they giggled. “Can we go get some ice cream Hope?” “Let’s go” I said and we walked around and found an ice cream stall. We walked to the counter and found a teen girl. She smiled and asked “How can I help you?” “One cookies and cream, two mint chocolate chip and one chocolate chip cookie dough” I ordered and she nodded. She went and came back with our order. Piper took her cookies and cream, Gwen took chocolate chip cookie dough then me and Noah took the mint chocolate. We walked around the park a little longer, enjoying the gentle breeze and ice cream. *** The kids were beyond tired when we came back home. After helping them change into their pj’s, I tucked them into bed. Since I had nothing special to do, I thought of reading a novel. Half way through it, my phone screen lit up with text notification. Lyra : I am coming home tomorrow. Can we meet up tomorrow at Hide & Seek Cafe? I will let you know when I am there. *** Blake’s P.O.V One thing I love to do at the start of my day is to take an early morning jog around the park. It helps me forget about my worries and fears for a short lived time. I don’t know how long I have been sitting on this park bench. I am not complaining. I like it here, the soothing breeze and kids playing and their sweet little giggles. My dad wasn’t an exact role model I could look up to like a role model when growing up. Everyone in Willow Creek knew what kind of a person he was, a ruthless monster but to me he was still my father. He has changed you know. He has changed into the father my siblings and I always hoped him to be. But the people of Willow Creek failed to see that. They will always picture him as the bad dude. I don’t give a f**k about what people think about my dad. I know the real him. He has changed. My brother’s death changed him. The loss of Jace affected him more than he thought it would. Jace wanted dad to become better, become the father we all deserved to have but dad didn’t change. The guilt that he couldn’t do the one thing his son asked him to do ate him alive. And to honour his memory, he became the person Jace wanted him to be. We haven’t gotten closure yet for Jace’s death. Trust me that feeling is haunting and eating me alive. I want to move on but before that I want to know who the hell took my brother away from me. And when I find out who did that, they are going to regret the day they were born. My phone’s screen lit showing me that my older brother was calling me. “Hello” “Blake, come home. It’s about Jace” ... Hey. That’s another chapter down. I have a lot more in store for you. Hope you loved the update. Read, vote/like and comment. If you have any suggestions on improvement and if you want anything to happen in the book, do let me know. Lots of love Cara
