Chapter 5 – Training Begins
The morning air was crisp, filled with the scent of earth and moss. Aria stood at the edge of the clearing, her hands still trembling from yesterday’s awakening. The silver light from her touch lingered faintly in her mind, a constant reminder that she was no longer ordinary.
The Shadow Beast stepped forward, his massive frame imposing yet controlled. “Today, you begin your training. You will learn control, strength, and how to harness the power that runs in your veins. Mistakes will hurt, and failure is not an option.”
Aria swallowed hard, trying to steady her racing heart. “I… I’m ready,” she whispered, though doubt gnawed at the edges of her resolve.
“Good,” he said. “Then follow my movements exactly. Watch, feel, imitate.”
He raised his clawed hand again, and a shimmering orb of energy appeared, swirling and twisting in the air. Aria mirrored his movements, fingers quivering, trying to replicate the motion.
At first, nothing happened. Frustration boiled in her chest. She wanted to scream. Why was this so hard?
“You are impatient,” the Shadow Beast said, his voice low, almost a growl. “Power is not given—it is earned. Focus, Aria. Control your fear. Control your anger. Control your desire for revenge against the one who rejected you. That is where your strength lies.”
Aria took a deep breath, centering herself. She thought of Draven—the cold, prideful Alpha who had humiliated her. She thought of every laugh, every sneer, every sharp word. Instead of letting anger consume her, she let it fuel her focus.
The orb responded. It wobbled, shimmered, and then… steadied. Light flowed smoothly between her fingertips.
The Shadow Beast’s amber eyes narrowed in approval. “Not bad. That was only your first attempt, and yet you have already begun to awaken the power I said you possess.”
Aria’s chest heaved, exhilaration mixing with exhaustion. “It feels… alive,” she murmured.
“Yes,” he replied, stepping closer. His shadow fell over her, larger than life. “And soon, that life will be yours to command. But remember this—power without control is dangerous. One wrong move and even I… could not save you.”
Aria nodded, determination hardening inside her. She would master this power. She would grow stronger than Draven. Stronger than anyone. And when the time came, she would reclaim her worth—and make those who doubted her regret every choice.
The Shadow Beast’s lips curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. “Tomorrow, we begin the next stage. But tonight… rest. You will need every ounce of strength for what is coming.”
Aria looked up at the moonlight filtering through the trees. She no longer feared the darkness. She no longer feared rejection.
She had survived. She had awakened. And the world—especially the Alpha who cast her aside—was about to witness a force they could never ignore.
