Chapter 4 – Awakening Power Morning came slowly, filtered through the thick canopy of the forest. Aria woke on the cold stone floor, muscles aching from exhaustion, but something inside her stirred differently. She had expected fear. Loneliness. Despair. Instead… she felt a faint warmth pulsing in her chest, like the moon itself was calling to her. The Shadow Beast stood silently nearby, watching her. His amber eyes glimmered with an intensity that made her stomach tighten. “Time to start,” he said, his voice low, commanding. “You will not survive in this world as you are. Weak, fearful… rejected. You must awaken what you were born with.” Aria shivered. “What… what do you mean?” “You have power,” he said simply. “Blood of an ancient line runs in you. A power your mate—Draven—never deserved to see. And yet, you wasted your first eighteen years unaware of it.” Her heart raced. Power? She had always thought herself ordinary. Weak. A joke to her pack. He stepped closer, and Aria felt the ground hum beneath her. “Close your eyes. Feel the moon,” he instructed. Obediently, she did. At first, nothing happened. Just the cool breeze brushing her face. Then, slowly… warmth spread from her chest to her arms, her legs, her entire body. A pulse of light flickered beneath her skin. Her senses sharpened. She could hear the distant rustle of leaves, the chirping of hidden creatures, the flow of water from a nearby stream. Her heart beat not just in her chest—but in the world around her. The Shadow Beast’s eyes softened, almost approving. “Good. That is only the beginning.” Aria gasped, stumbling back. “I… I feel… stronger.” “Yes,” he said. “Stronger than the girl Draven rejected. Stronger than any Alpha you’ve ever known. But strength alone is not enough. You must control it. Focus it. Master it.” He held out a clawed hand, and from it sprang a ball of silver light. “Mimic me.” Aria’s fingers trembled as she reached for it. The moment she touched the light, it surged through her, and she screamed—not in pain, but in exhilaration. Power flowed into her veins like liquid fire. When she opened her eyes, the Shadow Beast was gone. But the light in her hands remained, hovering, alive. Aria’s chest rose and fell rapidly. She had been rejected, humiliated, cast aside… but for the first time, she knew: She was no longer powerless. She was no longer the girl he had discarded. And soon… she would rise. Somewhere in the shadows, she felt a presence watching, patient, waiting. The journey had only begun.
