Lurch lay in his bed staring up at the ceiling in the darkness, wishing not for the first time that Kerry was there beside him. He couldn’t help but wonder how her conversation with Sandy had gone. Was her roommate upset that she was considering moving onto the ranch sooner than planned? After several moments, his thoughts turned to the meeting earlier in the evening.
