Kerry woke to the sudden blast of the alarm. She sat upright with fright then relaxed again as soon as she realized what it was. Before she could lean over to shut it off, another arm stretched out and slapped her alarm clock into silence. “If you lived at the ranch, we wouldn’t have to get up this early,” Lurch said as he pulled her back down to lay in his arms. She relaxed into him, enjoying his warmth, if only for a few more minutes. He was right, she knew it, but she hadn’t been ready to give up the apartment, nor had she been willing to abandon Sandy. “I know,” she said, biting back a sigh.
