The days following the storm, were calm. The Dragon’s Destiny is limping, though. The huge wave and stormy winds did a number on her. Abby is almost feeling as broken as her ship. An awfully painful bruise formed where she collided with Samuel. Her arm is numb, and her shoulder aches every time she lifts it. Joseph made sure that it’s not dislocated, and he informed her that she can be lucky. For a normal person like her to tackle a lycan, is almost like running headfirst into a wall.
Samuel doesn’t even have a scratch on him. Abby glares at him. “She’s angry?” Chris teases. “You can tell?” Samuel asks, sneaking a glance aver in Abby’s direction where she stands at the steering. “Can I tell? She’s been glaring at you ever since she took her stand over there. She’s been watching you like a hawk.” Chris snickers. Sam sighs and hand Chris the rope to continue rolling it up. Making his way over to Abby, he can tell she’s upset.
“Capt’n, something’s bothering you. I can tell.” He says as he comes to a stand still next to her. “Really? What makes you think that, Sam?” She snarls. Samuel smiles as he looks out at the calm sea. Abby’s throwing a fit and it’s quite amusing and adorable if that is the correct word for it.
“Well, for starters. You’ve been watching my every move since you came on deck. And… I can almost feel that burning glare at the back of my head.” He snickers as he makes eye contact. Abby’s cheeks go bright red. Was it that obvious?
Clearing her throat, she turns to face her First Mate. “I have a question, Samuel.” She starts, looking up at the huge man in front of her. “How in tarnation is it possible that you don’t show any sign of possible injury and I can hardly walk. I feel as if I collided with a tree.” She pouts and Samuel couldn’t help but utter a low, rumbling laugh.
“Technically speaking, Cap. You did collide with a tree. Remember I am a lycan and we heal fast. So, even if I did have an injury or scrape. It’ll be totally healed by now.” He explains. Abby sighs in defeat. “This suck. Wish I had that.” She murmurs getting another snicker from Samuel. “Go work, Sam. One more sound out of you and I’ll feed you to the seadogs.” She jokingly scolds and tries to push Samuel, but he stands firm and her attempt fails miserably.
“Thank you for coming to my rescue, Abby.” Samuel says and Abby stops struggling to move him. Looking up at Samuel’s face, she can tell that he is being serious. He doesn’t call her by her name at random. “I couldn’t see you getting hurt, Sam. You’re welcome. What kind of captain would I be if I can’t look after my fellow seamen?” She asks in earnest, looking out at sea. Her eyes following the light streaks playing on the horizon where the sun hits the water.
A moment of silence passes between them before Samuel takes his leave to help the crew try and save what they can. The damages to the ship will cause them to stay in Castelena for a bit longer that she had hoped, but maybe it’s for the better. Abby needs some time to plan her next move. She needs to choose her next route. Back to Windy Acres or a ghost chase after her father again.
Her heart is longing for Lawrence. She has an emptiness inside of her that only he can fill. The moment they made eye contact in the hospital room; she knew that they were meant to be. The question now; did he feel the same attraction?
Watching a seagull hover on the wind, Abby realizes they’re close to land. Turning on her heel, she makes her way to the bow of the ship. Passing damaged masts, snapped ropes and broken chains. Her heart sinks. The storm really wrecked the Dragon’s Destiny. She just hopes Castelena has the proper supplies to fix all this damage.
Joseph joins her. “How are you feeling, Abby?” He asks, keeping a close eye on her. He noticed her limping a bit, but for the greater part, she’s fine. Smiling up at the Warlock, Abby locks eyes with him. “I’m fine, Jo. A bit aching, but I gathered that’s from my collision with a train.” She snickers, causing Joseph to smile.
“Repairs is going to take a while. I have a bad feeling about staying in Castelena too long, but we have no other choice.” Abby continues. He chest is tight as anxiety creeps in. “I know. Castelena is becoming a rather dark horizon.” Joseph agrees and looks out towards the huge harbour town that is slowly appearing in the distance. He’s also feeling a but edgy as he follows the dark fog that stretches the full width of the town.
Meanwhile back in Windy Acres, the Black Swallow slowly makes her way into the harbour. Lord Bolton is waiting on the docks, searching the deck for an old friend. Sean Davidson exit his cabin and waits for the bridge to be lowered.
“Sean, it so good to see you again after all this time.” Lord Bolton greets him as he walks up to the Vampire King. Smiling, Captain Sean shakes his hand. “It’s good to be back on familiar ground.” He admits as the two of them turns and walks to the harbour gate where General Collard is waiting with a car to take them to the Mansion.
Once Captain Davidson is settled, he makes his way to the tearoom to find Lord Bolton and William enjoying an afternoon tea and some cake. Taking a seat with a cup in hand, San Davidson feels the tension slowly leave his shoulders. It’s been a while since he can lower his guard.
“Have you seen Abby recently, Lance?” He asks after taking a long sip from the cup, savouring the tantalizing lemony flavour. A silence follows. Looking in Lord Bolton’s direction, Sean can see worry.
“Lance?” He questions, concern creeping into his voice. “Were they here? She’s sick and needed help. Tell me they made it?” He asks, the tension back.
Clearing his throat, Lord Bolton looks over at Captain Davidson. “They were here, Sean. Abby did get the help she needed. The poison was strong, but Jack was ably to save her.” He explains, followed by a strained sigh.
“What happened, Lance?” Sean asks as he watched Lord Bolton closely.
“Abby left Windy Acres within a week after they got here. She’s disappeared again. Along with her whole crew.” William cuts in. “And, we heard yesterday that she might be mated to Lawrence Collard. One of the Collard twins.”
Sean leans back in his chair. In his whole life he never thought that he would be going on a hunt for his own daughter. The first time he didn’t know she was gone, which might have its advantages. Learning that she’s gone for the second time, changes the whole picture. Where do you begin. The ocean is huge and with storms like the last one they experienced, he prays that she’s as good as they say and that they made it to the next harbour town.
“SHE’S WHAT TO WHO?” He roars as it sinks in what William said.
