I was sitting at the bus stop on October 30th, 2019, I was trying to catch the bus to head home after gathering Halloween supplies. The bus was a few minutes late. I could hear it coming around the curve. I get on it and go to the middle. As I pass the front, I see this girl with hoodie on her head to cover her hair that fell in her face. So, I kept walking towards the middle of the bus, found my seat. As the bus kept going passed bus stops stopping and going. We finally made it to the mystery girls stop. She stood up and grabbed her bag out of the seat, grabbed her skateboard and stepped off the bus. As she walked to the sidewalk, I noticed that she had left the most important thing on the bus her phone. So, I grab it up and hurry off the bus trying to catch up to her. She had disappeared into the darkness of night. I am 3 blocks from home I will just walk home, and I’ll come back to the bus stop on the morning I thought to myself. Morning came, I walked to the bus stop she was nowhere to be found. I decided to just go on about my day. I’ll just leave it where I found it. I left the cell phone in the 3rd seat on left behind the driver, as I waited on that bus for this mystery girl, I realized that maybe she was not getting on this bus.
“Its Halloween she has to be out.” I said to myself. We arrive at her stop, and I get off the bus looking at my surroundings. I finally seen her; she was Infront of this house that looked abandoned. I walk over to her. “Hey.” I spoke. I guess I must have startled her. She jumped almost looked like she had seen a ghost. “You scared me.” She said with a lowered voice. She was a lot prettier than I imagined. She was wearing combat boots with black holey skinny jeans and her hair was darker than the night sky her skin was white almost as if she were a vampire her lips are so red that she puts an apple to shame. Oh, her eyes are ocean blue, I got lost in her eyes. “Who are you?” she asked. As I stumbled upon my words I replied “Lana. What is your name?”. she looked around as if she was nervous to say her name “Alexis.”. that was not the name I expected. “You left your phone on the bus and I just wanted to return it to you. I also was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight?” she replied “thanks for my phone, I’ve been looking for that. We can hang out, but I have a curfew because its Halloween, and I can’t be out past midnight.” She walked into the abandoned house, grabbed her stuff and we started walking down street. We admired the Halloween decorations in people’s yards, and we talked about life and how we felt alone in the world.
As we arrived to the little diner at the end of Main street where we was going to grab a milkshake and grab some lunch. She said, “I am not really hungry.” I looked at her and grabbed her hand and replied, “that’s fine let’s just go watch the sunset.” As we walked to Cambridge park something changed her attitude. “what’s wrong?” I replied with a concerned look upon my face. “I only have a few hours left then I have to go home.” She said with a sad look upon her face. Its almost time to have her back home, so I am going to make the best of it. So, we watched the sunset it looks like cotton candy. It was beautiful, as I sat beside Alexis I looked at her she was so beautiful. I love her already and I just met her. I couldn’t help but think how I wanted to spend all my time with her. As she turned and looked at me I could tell she wanted to tell me something, don’t know what she wanted to tell me, but hopefully she felt the same as I did.
As the time came for me to walk her home I couldn’t help, but to think to myself what if she doesn’t like girls? What if she is not into me like I am her. All these what ifs I should have just asked her. “Alexis, I got a question to ask you? Are u into girls? Like do you date them? I know its kind of blunt but I really like you. You are smart and funny, beautiful.” As she smiled with just the corner of her mouth she whispered “Yes Lana I like girls. You would never know if you don’t ask. You are beautiful too and I like you a lot but there is somethings I need to tell you.” I am worried now. I mean she said she likes me and all this stuff but what is making her so nervous. As we walked the streets to get her home, we finally made it to the gate of her fence that is Infront of her home. We sat there and said our goodbyes. She went in, I walked away. That was hard I didn’t want to leave. I made it home and all I could think about was her. The way she smiled and the was she reminded me how love should feel. Then I realized she never told me what she wanted to tell me. “ill go tomorrow when I wake up it is pretty late.” I said to my self.
As I woke up, I got dressed and I grabbed some toast. I over heard my neighbors talking about that abandoned house. “What happened?” I asked. They turned and looked at me and said “ These kids saw someone go in so they went to go trick or treat and they knocked but no one came to the door, they looked thru the window and they said it looked like no one has lived there for years.” As they looked towards the house. I didn’t want to say anything so I just walked away. As I kept walking I overheard the elderly lady talking about a girl that got killed 5 years ago and how she died on Halloween. The girl was walking home and these kids stabbed her in the back all because how she looked. She was what people called gothic. Gothic is all about wearing black, the story is that she only comes on 3 before Halloween and on Halloween night at 12 she disappears. I just keep walking; I finally make it to the house. I walk up on the porch and find a envelope with my name on it. I open it and start to read, “Dear Lana, there was something I needed to tell you, but I didn’t have much time, so I’m going to tell you now I am a ghost I am the girl in the story. I was stabbed by kids on Halloween 5 years ago. I am sorry. I wanted to tell you, but I did not have the time or the heart to tell you. You can always come and see me at the cemetery I am always listening. Love, Alexis” I was in complete disbelief. I walk to the cemetery to visit. As I sat there, I realize that I am a friend, I love this girl this ghost. So, I started talking “Alexis, I know your are listening. Im sorry what happened to you, but I am so happy I met you. You are beautiful and smart and outgoing. I just wish that I met you sooner. I wish I could have saved you. Ill always sit here and ill always visit you. I love you.” The wind blew and I heard “I love you too.” She was there with me she was listening someday I will meet her again
