Adeline’s POV
“Well?” Caleb asked again when he noticed my silence and stone-faced expression. How could I not be still? I was in total shock.
“Well, what, Caleb?” I played dumb, just trying to dodge the question. But it seemed I couldn’t escape. He flicked on the turn signal, pulled over to the side of the road, and turned to look me dead in the eye.
“What I just asked you,” he said, his face incredibly serious.
“Oh, stop! You’re always joking,” I replied. Honestly, I don’t find it funny anymore, but I said it anyway just to cover my nerves.
“I’m being serious. I’m not joking.”
“Hah! As if you could ever stop being such a player.” Was I wrong? He had so many women around him. I still remembered what that one girl said: 'Caleb doesn't belong to anyone; Caleb belongs to everyone.'
