CHAPTER 16: THE ENCOUNTER

POV: Adam

The sun was now totally uncovered her beauty above the mountains. It is such a good and calm sunrise, if Eris and I didn't quarrel, it is indeed a perfect morning. Eris lay down again and covered himself with a blanket and never leave his tent since. I'm still suppressing my heat for I'm very afraid that I could force him on mating, remembering nothing about our past, our love. As well as suppressing my scent if ever the mysterious enemy comes back. Everyday I becoming weak, my sense, my strength, my mind, it's all decrementing, as soon as possible I have to tell him and convince Eris that he love me and must complete the mark. We have to mate and fulfill our duty as Alpha and Luna of the pack, this way we can resolve this problem stronger.

"Adam? You feeling okay now?" Marco asked and I nodded as a response.

"You two argued again?" he asked.

"I wanted to apologize.. I uhm didn't mean to.." I explained and glance inside to see Eris on his bed.

Marco chuckled and said, "Not to me, to him" moving his head pointing to the sleeping actor. I nodded again to him and looked again to my mate.

"There's a convenience store nearby. I'll just buy food for our breakfast" then he tapped my shoulder, "Fix it" he said before walking away. Marco is such a nice guy and I'm glad that my Eris got a friend like him. I entered the tent slowly and make my way beside him on the bed. I sat down and quietly cleared my throat before I start my apology.

"Eris, I want to apologize if I made you worry. I am sorry that I left and can't explain to you everything but I promised after your shoots I tell you everything" I stated with my breaths seemed not cooperating. He is the only one that can make me like a puppy that coax its master. "Eris, are you awake?" I slowly and gently raised my hand to touch him under his blanket. When... He's so soft... not 'human-soft' but... I swiftly lifted his blanket and surprised that I was talking to a pile of pillows.

I immediately stood up and ran out of the tent to look for him. "Adam, where's our car?" Marco wondered as he is walking fast towards me.

"Eris' not there" I announced as I felt my fret starting to build up.

"What do you mean?" Marco asked and crossed his brows as he sink in my revelation.

"He is not in the tent!" I said, "Those were only pillows" I exhaled to stay calm. But I feel my body starting to get tense and worried. 'Where is he?'

"Don't tell me..." he said and simultaneously our eyes met in shocked.

"No way!..." I move my head from left to right in skepticism and smile a bit without parting my lips to stay cool but deep inside 'I can't forgive myself if something happened to him'

Marco walked quickly to find him and, "Stay here in case he comes back" he said to me as I sprinted behind him. 'Silver Fang, What is it?' Eris's words painted back to my mind in a flash.

"No, I think I know where he is" I blocked Marco's path and firmly into his eyes.

"What do you mean 'you know'? " he asked in confusion. He still follow what's happening.

"You stay here, I promise I bring him back here safe" I declared to him and obviously to myself. I will never let him get hurt. I promise.

"Why I felt odd the way you sound huh Adam? Is there's something going on.... what's going on between you two!" Marco phrase by phrase increased the volume of his voice as I started to walk away from him.

"Strange... I know there's something's going on" Marco talked to himself and looked for their director.

I'm sure he went there... to find answers.. answer that I didn't gave him. If he's gone just a couple of minutes ago I can get to him before he reached the town. But if not, I hope they don't see him.

POV: Eris

Just in few minutes, I will reach the town of Lakeside. I never thought I would come back here after almost two years.. two years of hiding and fear to the forgotten past that I tried to bury in assiduity of career and business. 'You've reached your destination' the female voice from the app said. Yeah, I really hope that this the right destination for me to find answers to my past. What if I regret the results of this discovery. What if it is better that I just let it be a forgotten memory.... everything that was happened here. What if the worst, the one that I fear... that Adam is.... everything those that I saw in my dreams is....

..... 'No! That's ridiculous. What are you thinking Eris' I said to myself to wake up in this paranoia. I parked my car in front of a small gas station and get out. I looked around the center of the town and these are all familiar. Now, where will I begin? Whom will I ask? What will I ask? 'This is crazy'

I walked and walked around the town until I finally felt the heat of the sun touching me and letting my skin sweat out. I felt hungry, and I remember I hadn't had breakfast yet. I walked again and looked around until I found a small convenience store. I entered the store and I took off my hat and mask. I bought some sandwich and juice and looked on the bearded old man at the counter and gave to him my bill. And then I get my food and my change while still looking to him undisturbed.

"Yes? Is there something more that you need?" he asked in a nice way. His clothes were neat and clean but old.

I don't know if it's kinda rude but I have to, "Don't you know me? I mean.. well.... maybe uhm recognize me?" I exhaled, yeah there I said it.

The old fellow looked at me and squinted his eyes through his old glasses. "Uhmm You look like the singer... What's his name again?" he smiled and "Eris?" I said in a low voice.

"Yeah, Believe it or not I personally know him" he said in a happy and proud face. He laughed and I chuckled, then he suddenly paused and looked at me attentively like he remembered something important.

"NO!! Wha...? Eris?.." he uttered in shocked and a little bit puzzled.

"You said, you know me personally?" I asked and I crumpled the lower end of my garment. I suddenly felt excited, no... uncertain of my feeling, fear.... doubt... I don't know, all I know is I need to ask him and listen to his answers.

"What're you doing here? Are you with the Alpha? Where is he?" the old man asked that is now looked like a huge stranger for me and I am starting to shrink before him. What is he asking? Alpha? What is that?

"Alpha?" I asked like I choked something that blocked my throat to speak properly. "I am afraid I don't understand?" I stuttered in front of him and sweat more visibly on my forehead. He looked at me uncertain and hesitant. Worry is now starting to be painted on his face. Then suddenly, on those few seconds of restrained answers that feel like hours, the store's door rang signifying someone enters.

"Good morning, Mr. Sylva" the stranger greeted the old man. The man that if I am asked was on his mid or late twenty's. He was taller and more hunky than me and has a fair white skin. His hair was high faded at the side and the top hair was tied behind. He was wearing a dark army green cable rib knitted casual long sleeve cardigan sweater and light grey pants and white shoes. He smiled to the counter and I followed him by my eyes. He stood beside me and, "Good morning Tyler" greeted back by Mr. Sylva and he looked back at me again then back to whom he called Tyler.

"How's the Alpha? Its been a while since I heard from him" asked Mr. Sylva to Tyler whom still never yet noticed me.

"Adam's fine of course, he's with his mate and...." Tyler answered but I interrupted him, "You know, Adam?" I faced him as I asked the question. The bachelor turned his face unto me and widened his eyes as wide as he could. And by the way his lips also parted a little bit in shock as he saw me.

"Eris?" he uttered.

"Wait, you know me?".... "What are doing here?" Me and Tyler asked to each other. Both of us were surprised and confused.

"You're with him?" Tyler asked again when I should be the one asking him. 'Who are you people?' 'Can you please answer my questions first?'

"He's alone and he's asking about the Alpha" Mr. Sylva explained to the young man. And that's it, I'm totally lost with these conversation.

"What!?" Tyler said in a surprised voice and then looked at me. I stand straight and looked at his eyes too.

"Look, I'm confused. Can you answer my questions first?" I said in a firm voice and determination, "Who are you and what's the 'Alpha' "

"Adam's hasn't told you everything yet, I see" He said to himself in a low voice but enough for me to hear it as well. Tyler looked at Mr. Sylva that seems they understand each other just by staring. He held me at my right arm and pulled me near the door.

"Eris, look, You don't remember me yet, but I know you, you have to trust me. We have to..." he paused when his phone rang from his pants' right pocket and, "James" Tyler said then stopped as he listens to the person on the other line. "He's here with me now" he said and then hang up the phone.

"Adam's on his way to take you back and we'll meet him on the road" he further explained. But what is happening? They don't answer me yet. I can't go back until I receive an explanation.

"No, I can't go back, not until you answer me!" I raised my voice to show them that I'm desperate, that I need the truth, I want to remember my past. All of it.

"Eris, please. Adam will explain to you everything" he held me on my shoulders and looked at me in the eyes sincerely. He then opened the door and lead the way.

"This way" he said extending his arm and hand opposite of the way where my car's. "No, my car's this way" I said in objection to him. I need to escape from this stranger, I'm not sure what will happen next if... The next thing I know, an unknown car stopped beside us on the sidewalk. A tall brown skin and trim bearded guy get out of his vehicle quickly. He approached me and he nodded to Tyler before he looked at me and, "James" extending his arm for a handshake. I looked at his hand and then to him, doing nothing. "I know..you..don't remember us but we're Adam's friends" he assured, "Don't be afraid of us" and then he again stared to his friend Tyler.

"You must go" Tyler commanded and walked to open the passenger seat of his friend's car.

"Are you kidding? There's no way I'm gonna ride a stranger's car.. I.. uhm, I have my own car" I explained to them like a teenager discussing his side to his parents and pointed again to them where I left my car. Who are these people? Why they sound and act like they know me a lot personally?

"I'll take care of your car" Tyler said, "James will take you to Adam" he continued.

"Alpha, he does not want to come with us" James said talking on his phone, that 'Alpha' word again, it bothers me a lot. "Okay, you're on a speaker now" James said after he turned on the speaker of his phone.

'Eris, you have to come with him. I'll explain to you everything later, I promise' Adam said from the other side of the line. His voice.. like he's telling me, 'It's okay' 'Everything will be alright' I exhaled and then started walking towards the car.

POV: Eris

'Eris, don't tell me you went to Wellwood' Marco said from the phone.

"I'm going back now. I'll be there in 30 minutes max, so relax" I said while James was typing on his phone. I looked at the window outside and enjoy the trees towering on both side of the road.

'You're with Adam now?' he asked and paused a little, what will I tell him? Will I tell him that I'm with a stranger, a random guy whom he said he's a friend?

"Yeah, I'm with him" I gazed at James ostensibly while he was driving and he seems happy. He has a small smile on his face. Then, his phone rang, answered it and put it on speaker mode. "Yes, Tyler?" he said.

'His car broke down. Someone flattened the tires' Tyler explained.

"What?" James uttered in abruptness then looked at me. I immediately hang Marco up and absorbed the news I've heard.

'I think its the Red Arrow' he said. 'Red Arrow' what is it now?

"Red Arrow? What is that?" I asked as my concern moved to that strange name than to my broken car.

'James, why are you on a speaker phone!?' Tyler's words were disappointment and uneasiness.

"Well, I didn’t know you would deliver such news, Tyler" he said in a little irritation.

'Uhmm sorry, Beta' the kid apologize immediately. After that, James quickly turn off his phone. Are they have some kind of hierarchy here? 'Cause it feels like it. Then suddenly, James shouted and shifted the car from something... or avoiding someone, I'm not sure, which cause that we move towards the other side of the road and run into the tree.

"Are you okay?" James asked. My head hurts, I think I hit the window and my right arms as well. I slowly opened my eyes and answered, "Yeah, I'm okay" I exhaled deeply and relax myself and find what happened. "You?" I asked him if he's alright and he nodded.

We simultaneously opened each of our door to get out of the vehicle to see what happened to us. I made a few steps away from the car and observe the damaged. I think there's no oil leaking or anything. Thankfully. I dialed my phone to ask for help but the signal was very poor. Then, while James is walking closer to me that's now looked serious, at that very moment, I heard a huge deep growl. The frightful and familiar sound was near, just a few feet from me, I guess. I slowly turned to see the animal and was shocked to its enormous size. I am certain this is not a normal wolf.
