Night-
I could feel cold metal around my wrists and ankles, but my eyes were covered so I could not see. I could feel noise canceling headphones over my ears, and for some reason I couldn’t smell anything in particular. It was like my wolf was suppressed.
I didn’t know where I was or remember how I got here, but I knew I wasn’t near the pack anymore. I couldn’t feel Day anywhere nearby or feel our link. I couldn’t even feel the pull between us anymore, which in most cases only the Moon Goddess could take away.
Did he reject me? Why would he announce his plan to make me his mate if he would only reject me? None of this made sense.
I felt a searing hot pain across my arms, then warm fluid flowed down under the cold metal. Someone removed the headphones but left the blindfold over my eyes. The person leaned in close enough to feel their warm breath against my cheek.
“Well hello, Princess,” the man hissed demonically. “I hope you’re worth the price on your head. It is such a hassle keeping you quiet, and quite expensive too. You wolves take much more sedative than any other species. Seems your blood processes the drug too quickly.”
I growled, but could not break free of the restraints. I felt weaker as what I assumed was blood continued to flow from my arms. Who was this and how did they capture me? I don’t even remember putting up a struggle. Last thing I recalled was running back to the safe house with the pack, then everything went black.
“Don’t struggle too much, Princess, you’ll bleed yourself dry. The drugs seem to work better when we drain some of your wolfy blood.” The man snickered then continued, “not to mention the premium we will get selling this liquid gold. Do you realize how much blood like yours is selling for? Well of course you don’t, why would you? Let’s just say your worth significantly more than-“
“Paul, stop talking to that creature,” another man chided his companion. “Just get the blood, give her the drug and let’s get out of here.”
“Aw come on Todd, I was just going to have a little fun with her,” I could hear the smirk in his voice. “She’s actually kind of cute when she’s not all hairy.”
“Leave it alone,” Todd barked. “Hurry up!”
Paul sighed, “fine, be the spoil sport if you must. It’s not like she’s any threat to us. At least not with the wolf bane on board and those special cuffs he gave us.”
“We shouldn’t trust wolves, even if she is drugged up, and who knows if he is telling us the truth. Why should we trust this guy, isn’t he…” Todd was cut off and I couldn’t hear anything else anymore.
Paul must have replaced the headphones so I wouldn’t hear the rest of Todd’s sentence. Someone was paying these hunters to kidnap me, but why? Who wanted me? I was alone for so long, who would even know I was with the Red Feather Pack?
I felt a sharp pierce then suddenly so drowsy I could not stay awake.
…………………
Day-
I caught Night’s scent not far from the safe house, and I followed it for miles but it suddenly disappeared near a creek. They thought they covered their trail but the hunters left subtle traces of their presence. I growled at their stench.
I found the evidence I needed to assure me that Night did not leave on her own. A wave of relief washed over me, followed by an anchor of dread. She was kidnapped and I would have to save her.
I followed the hunters’ trail as far as I could but only a few miles out their trail suddenly vanished as well. No smell, no footsteps, no trace at all. It’s like they disappeared out of thin air. I roared out my frustration and punched the ground.
“What the hell?!” I yelled exasperated.
I began to sob feeling hopeless. How was I going to find her with no trace, no trail to lead me? I relied on my wolf to get me this far, what else did I have to take me farther? Wandering blindly could lead me nowhere and even further from the pack. My heart insisted I find Night, but my Alpha instincts instructed me to turn back to the pack. Without some kind of lead to go on this search was futile.
Suddenly I felt a brief but definitive link to Night, and tried to reach out to her.
Night, Night are you able to hear this? Please tell me you can hear this, I begged.
I was afraid she couldn’t hear me, but then after a moment, Day? How am I able to hear you? Where are you? She sounded groggy like she just woke up.
I’m trying to find you but I hit a dead end, I explained. Can you give me any clues to find you? I feel the pull but it’s very weak. Are you hurt? Have they been hurting you?
I don’t know where I am, they have me blindfolded and there’s these cuffs chained to a chair, I could tell she was about to cry. They have been drugging me and using wolf bane and Goddess knows what else. My wolf senses are dulled, almost nonexistent, and I can barely sense my own wolf. I don’t know if it’s because of the drugs, or because they’ve been draining my blood. They said they were going to sell it, and someone paid them to kidnap me. I’m scared, Day.
I know, Night, I know, I held back my rage. I will find you. I promised I would protect you, I can’t break my promise again.
Day, someone is coming I think they are going to drug me again, she yelped. Help me, please.
I felt her panic and flooded with fear, then suddenly the link was broken. A low growl came from my chest. I headed in the direction of the pull I felt during the brief link, but there was not much for me to go on. She could be anywhere in this wilderness. But I vowed to the Moon Goddess that I would find her and bring her home.
