Adithya’s hand was on my shoulder. ‘Saisha, are you okay?’ I sank into the leather of the back seat, grateful our conversation had been cut short. The seeming collision of our pasts was too much coincidence, too much to take in. Yet here I was, speeding toward the jungles of Chathuragiri with Vasur’s family. With every kilometre, he felt palpably closer, or was this just hope masquerading? Did he even want to be found? I wound my window down all the way, lay my arm against the cool steel of the Ambassador’s body. ‘Watrap will take another half-hour, then the foothills of Chathuragiri ten kilometres more,’ Adithya translated the driver’s estimates.
