That didn’t work. He picked up his discarded clothes, went back into the creek, and gave everything a quick soaking, rinsing and wringing-out. Then he carried it all over to the fallen tree and spread it out on the trunk to dry. He did the same with Kimberley’s clothes. It was irritating, until Kimberley realized that he was trying to irritate her, playing his little game to prolong the suspense and keep her simmering until HE was ready. Okay, let him play his little games. She would wait him out…as if she could do anything else. Eventually he would run out of other things to do and he hadn’t gone to all the time and trouble to track her down and capture her not to screw her brains out once he’d succeeded. Finally, there was nothing left for him to pick up except Kimberley and her blanket
