When the alarms started, and the lights went out Luca and Ghost activated the light enhancement on their contacts which made their eyes glow in the shadows of the mask. With a nod to each other the pair slipped out of the room on silent feet. Ghost conscientiously moving first to handle the doors while Luca relied on his sharp hearing and the remaining butterfly to monitor the back. [Ghost: Footsteps.] Luca responded to the warning by increasing his speed and then he sprung onto the wall pushing off it to fly round the corner. Luca kicked the first guard in the head and used them as a springboard to wrap his legs around the throat of the second guard. Bending backwards Luca placed his hands on the floor and crunched his abs tossing the guard over his body and headfirst into the ground. Ghost followed around the corner and casually chopped the back of the neck of the first guard. [Ghost: You’re not worried that they’ll recognise your fighting style?] [Luca: I know I’ve been doing a lot of unarmed and rope work, but I’m known as a sword and knife user.] Luca smirked at the resounding silence behind him. It was always nice to lull people into false assumptions. Especially when you can lead them around by it later. Ghost and Luca hurried through the corridors dealing with the guards when they encountered them avoiding them when they could. They noted the sounds of shouts and fighting from other areas which Luca attributed to other contestants being spotted with all the alarms going off. As Luca followed Ghost around the next corner some instinct had him diving forward. A sound a tearing cloth followed, and Luca felt the shift in the hang of the back of his clothes. As Luca regained his feet he spun around and was faced with an empty corridor. Equally black was the map, it showed only Ghost’s and Luca’s marker. [Ghost: What the hell was that?] Luca straightened with a last long look at the corridor and then turned back to keep moving. [Lucky: Not a clue, I don’t want a second meeting.] [Rӓv: What? What’s going on. Why the hell did I have to turn the cameras off I can’t see anything? Ghost I’m borrowing your eyes.] [Rӓv: The hell did that?] Luca held his coat up and looked at the claw marks shredding straight through the coat. From the feel of it the shrubs and his outer clothes had suffered the same treatment. If he hadn’t been wearing such loose clothing that would have been his back. [Ghost: I think I’ll wear looser clothes from now on.] Luca tossed the coat aside as they rounded the final corner. There where two scientists and four guards. Luca flicked a look at Ghost, before they moved forward. The guards where focused on the cells and only turned at the last moment. It was unfortunate for them, but Luca had no intention of wasting an advantage. Luca took a running leap and stepped on the shoulders of the closest guards. Using them as a springboard Luca flipped in the air and brought his left foot down on the back of one guard and then continued his roll to land on the ground. From there Luca lashed back with a leg sending the second guard tumbling to the ground. The guards showed their lack of precise training when the first two guards moved after Luca and left Ghost free to act. Ghost immediately swept forward and unlocked the doors of the two prison cages. The two scientists moved to intercept Ghost while Ghost shifted forward after the guards. Luca shifted from his crouch and rolled forward sliding between the approaching guards to come up in a split kick, it was showy and wouldn’t be effective on proper fighters, but it was just enough to knock the two scientists into the cells. Meanwhile Ghost moved to the disorientated guards and started moping up. Luca barely regained his feet and moved in time to catch one of the last two standing guards in a sleeper hold. Dropping the guards to the floor Luca turned prepared to go grab a person and flinched. Two bloody, haggard but inhumanly beautiful people stood at the doors of the two cells. Of the scientists there where no signs. Luca was relieved that he wouldn’t be carting people out but also disturbed at the rapid recovery. Still they’d started this plan might as well finish it. Luca flicked a hand and sent Ghost ahead to clear the way. The two pretties shifted closer, and Luca nodded to them before leading the way out as he spoke, “if you need me to slow down say so.” The alarms continued to blare so Luca spoke slightly louder to be heard. “I’m fine.” Two voices sounded from behind Luca, and he resisted the urge to look back. The words from the scientists in the lab circling in his head. Just one look, just a touch of blood. He was already helping them so it shouldn’t matter but he was already taking enough risks right now no need to push the envelope. [Ghost: Lucky there are more faceless masks here. The path straight to the elevator is clear enough though.] [Lucky: You head on ahead then, we’ll follow up.] Luca checked over the butterfly monitors and thanked Rӓv’s alertness as she had started moving the butterfly’s around to check the paths ahead. [Tails: Lucky the place is swarming with masks and mufflers out here.] [Holly: Never seen such a party.] [Lucky: So long as we avoid the privilege of being guests of honour let them party.] “So your name is Lucky?” Luca shivered slightly at the voice right by his ear. Damn, and I thought Ghost was silent. “Yes,” Luca replied shortly as he concentrated on leading them through the winding corridors while avoiding other people. It was only after they made another turn the Luca wondered how they’d heard the coms where specifically meant to be just for his hearing only. Especially with all the alarm’s still blaring. At the end of the corridor ahead two groups appeared and Luca sword. He was good but not good enough for a large-scale fight while babysitting. However, Luca was suddenly faced with a different problem when the two pretties behind him immediately rushed forward. Luca hadn’t been able to see clearly who was at the end of the hallway but at the two’s sudden approach the groups turned, and Luca noticed the white faceless masks and the black mufflers. The tones of the groups where immediately that of a happy reunion. Job done. Let’s bail. With that thought Luca turned into a smaller corridor stripping off the scrubs he left them discarded on the floor. Luca checked the map and then turned into a small meeting room and then jumped up and forced his way into a vent. Pulling the grate back in place and pinning it with a step knife. Luca was reluctantly to leave the blade behind, but it was better than leaving the grate dangling open. Luca crawled through the vent quickly and reached the elevator shaft just as the elevator paused below him. Living up to my reputation. Sliding free of the vent Luca settled in a crouch on the roof and then looked at Ghosts marker directly below him. Popping the grate Luca stuck his head in to look down at Ghost. [Lucky: Shouldn’t the elevator be off due to the alarms?] reaching out a hand Luca helped Ghost climb onto the elevator roof. [Ghost: Ba, just some locks what is there to speak of.] [Rӓv: I turned the elevator’s power back on separately.] Luca rolled his eyes and stripped off the mask and he outer layer of clothes. Removing all the distinguishing elements Luca tossed the clothes and mask into the next vent they passed. With any luck they’d be swept to the bottom of the elevator. [Ghost: Can I keep the mask? Is quite stylish.] [Rӓv: Keep the obviously damning evidence sure… Not. You just try.] The deceptive mildness in that tone deeply concerned Luca so much so that he turned a smile of his own onto Ghost. Ghost took a long look at Luca’s face and then promptly bundled up his mask, coat and scrubs and tossed them into the last vent before the elevator reached the top of the shaft. Luca had planned to go back into the elevator to get out but noticed an access hatch near the pully at the top. Luca pointed at the hatch ang Ghost nodded. Thus, they shifted to the side to avoid the pully and then popped the hatch and crawled out onto the roof. They stayed flat on the roof as they closed the hatch again and crawled to the edge. The sound of the alarms abruptly cut off. Then in the next few minutes the sounds of fighting subsided. [Tails: Your clear.] [Holly: Clear all the way to the door] Holly confirmed. Luca trusted their observations. They’d been standing around keeping watch for a long time it would be strange if someone managed to avoid them. Luca flipped off the roof and waited as Ghost jumped down after him. Silently they moved swiftly across the space and made there way directly back to the room. Immediately after that everyone changed and promptly went to bed. They’d sleep while the could the day of today was destined not to be boring.
