Luca slid out the door and was immediately soaked through by the rain. At the same time Rӓv brought up the full airport map on the glasses display. The map rotated in his view before three large warehouses at the end of the runways were highlighted.
[Rӓv: Bloody pricks, I can’t believe they have taken all the power out I can’t use the damn cameras. So you’re on your own with finding these guys as you move.] The rabid annoyance was clear in every word she spoke, and Luca shook his head. He could see already that they’d all be rigged with more cameras and sensors than a movie set as soon as she got half a moment. If she doesn’t have a veritable fleet of drones active after this, I’ll be looking for the sun rising in the west.
[Ghost: Is fine, fun game of hide and seek. Oh? They play harder now.] Luca slid around a corner staying close to the building while muttering to himself, “Should have worn a hat.” A helmet would also be good if it weren’t for the loss of peripherals and hearing. Maybe a project to work on later. He had brief moment to wonder at Ghost’s comment that normally meant that the other guys were...
Luca jerked his head back to avoid the knife aimed at his eyes from the faceless mask that appeared from the rain. Reaching up to grab the wrist Luca jerked it wide and then spun underneath the arm as the faceless mask brought his second arm around with a knife aimed at his ribs. Twisting the first arm up behind the faceless mask Luca slammed them face first into the wall once, twice and then let them slump down. He heard them scramble up and away as he rounded the next corner.
[Lucky: The translation of Ghost’s comment is that the faceless masks are now making lethal attacks.]
[Tails: I noticed. It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t move like Ghost’s cousins. Thouhg at least they don’t have the same skills.]
[Ghost: I have no such family.]
[Rӓv: Ghost if you have nothing productive to offer shut up. Lucky if you swing through the next supply building you can slide in through a maintenance entrance into the main hanger.] As Rӓv spoke a route flashed on the map and Luca narrowed his eyes.
The dots on the map that marked the others showed that Rӓv had snuck into a security room and was just dealing with anyone that tried to attack her. Ghost was flittering about from one place to another. While Holly was shifting in a minimalistic fashion in the original lounge. Tails seemed to be creeping slowly over the roof towards the entrance maybe.
Sliding into the storage room Luca looked around and then noticed a coil of rope, looked to be about twenty metres so he slung it over his head and across his body. A little bit awkward but it would lighten off with use. The corners of his lips curled slightly as he formed an idea. So far, the faceless masks had been hard to keep down, so it was difficult to keep track of the actual number of opponents. Picking up two small but weighty wheels he tied them to the ends of the rope before he reached the window on the far side of the room.
Shoving the window open Luca stepped on the nearby rack and dove out the window landing in a roll and coming to his feet. He flicked the rope out using the weight of the wheel to wrap the rope around a faceless masks leg, their bad luck to be standing in the way. A quick jerk pulled them over to him and Luca rolled them onto their back then with a couple of quick loops he efficiently tied them up before he sliced the end of the rope and reattached his tire.
Three more faceless masks got the same treatment before Luca slid into the hanger. [Tails: Hah, are you practicing your b*****e skills now Lucky?]
[Lucky: I’m getting sick of them coming back like a bad smell.] Luca switched to text only and turned on the night enhancement on his glasses as he crept into the hanger. Rather than walking on the ground Luca bounced up off the floor onto the wing of the first plane he reached. Carefully and quietly he crept along the wing and then sprang lightly over the cabin and onto the next wing. The slight green tint showed just the looming shapes and Luca paused while he listened hard. Vaguely he heard voices from further in.
The sound of the water dripping from his clothes seemed loud in his ears and Luca decided that he needed a change of plans. The number of voices suggested that there were enough people in here that an outright attack would end badly. With a resigned silent breath he shifted his rope off and placed it silently on the wing top. Then he proceeded to strip off the loose outer layer of his clothing. Once he was down to form fitting leggings and vest, he resettled his gloves, then shifted out his utilities from the in seems of his clothes. Barefooted he picked his rope back up and started deeper into the hanger towards the sound of voices.
[Rӓv: Lucky did you just stripe?]
[Lucky: I need more manoeuvrability. Turn your eyes on me and stare at the peripherals for me.] Luca had seen no indications that Rӓv had had any form of interruption since she’d settled in the security room, so it was a good time to use the camera vision on the glasses to get a second set of eyes on the area.
[Rӓv: Roger. You see I see active. Wow night vision sucks, hang on I’ll switch to thermal on my end then run a cross overview through the camera map. Won’t be perfect but should give you a bit more to work with.]
[Tails: You added thermal vision to the glasses?]
[Rӓv: Yeah, with the last model. Did you not read the update notes?]
[Ghost: Made good plane]
[Rӓv: I will block you. Do you believe it?]
[Holly: Ah, are we being serious about this. They’ve tapered off here and people are spreading out to look around. The suits are muttering about the power and flight delay. Also seems like the rain is lightening off.]
[Tails: Gotta do you even when things get tough. Ah, this looks promising got a group swinging round and then splitting up, must be under direction. Let’s see where you came from.]
[Lucky: It’s when Ghost isn’t messing around that I know we have problems.] Luca blinked twice as the view in his glasses shifted with red dots appearing on the map. Luca did a slow pan all the way around to give Rӓv a clear basis for her positioning. A few more dots were added to the map.
[Rӓv: With the power out there shouldn’t be any non-people heat sources but just be careful.]
[Lucky: I’m more interested in what or how they’re seeing in this dark cause they’ve been pretty on point with their attacks so far.]
[Rӓv: Yeah, good question.]
[Lucky: It’s one I don’t think I’m going to like the answer to.] The key to not being seen is staying out of sight lines. Luca continued across the hanger by way of the aeroplanes until he came to a gap too far to leap over. In the clear area between the two planes stood a faceless mask obviously on watch. Go down and fight or Luca shifts his attention to the roof.
[Rӓv: Luca where are you looking?]
[Lucky: Relax the hanger is too high for me to manage with just over 14 m of rope.]
[Holly: Wait the answer would be different if you had more rope? Actually, when did you even get rope and why?]
[Ghost: Rope good. b*****e fun.]
[Tails: Seems like the hero worship is starting to wane.]
[Lucky: What can I say its ridiculous how little time people spend looking up.] Checking what he had Luca twisted his mouth slightly. He only had two glowsticks, his hook wing, two fighting knifes and two step knives. There was nothing for his hook wing to grab onto that might not provoke problematic damage. Geeze it’s like being naked. I’ll just have to get creative.
