The witch

ALPHA JACKSON At two a.m. this morning, the plan went ahead. I met with the rogues just outside the pack border, and we made our way to the pack lands, ready to end everyone and claim what was rightfully mine. I was shocked when I arrived to meet the rogues; I hadn’t met them all before, but there were over four hundred of them. My plan was going to be even smoother than I had thought. We split into groups, fanning out across the pack lands and the house, and started the attack. We had a huge advantage because most of them were asleep. It was one hell of a fight—blood everywhere, vomit pooling on the ground, body parts sprawled across the floor—and I was loving every second of it. I had told the rogues beforehand that I would be the one to kill the Alpha, and that’s exactly what I did. I would say he put up a good fight for an old man, but he was no match for me. I sunk my teeth into him and ripped his f*****g throat out. It was glorious, and every time I relive it, I get goosebumps from the excitement I felt. I was also the one to take my sister’s life. I tore her into pieces as she tried to run for the safe room, and I didn’t regret a second of it. Unfortunately, someone else got to my father first. I would have enjoyed that kill, but there’s still my mother. I knew she would be in the safe room at the pack house with other women, pups, and the elderly. After she was attacked by rogues, she didn’t want to fight anymore. I led more rogues to the safe room and let them have their fun while I searched for my mother. As I was about to end her, she gave me that look only a mother could give her child, and I froze. I hate to admit it, but at that moment, I felt weak. I know Alphas shouldn’t be weak, but she was my mother. Despite everything, she was the only one in the world that I actually cared about, so I walked away, leaving the room and letting the others end her. Within seconds of leaving, I felt a sharp pain in my chest as I heard Melinda’s father growl upon discovering her body with her heart torn out. The pain was nothing I couldn’t handle, and I honestly didn’t even feel sad, she was never going to be my Luna anyway. I soon realized we were winning; just a few more worthless members, and this pack would be mine. Once everyone was dead, we did a sweep of all the houses and hideouts to check for anyone hidden. I didn’t have to worry about anyone finding Annabelle because the door to her safe room was well covered. I’d be back for her later. We lost about a hundred rogues in the fight, including Melinda’s father and her brother, but that was to be expected. As much as I thought her father and I would have gotten along great, it was nice to know I wouldn’t have to fake the grieving mate act. Once no survivors were confirmed, I let out a victorious howl, and every rogue bowed down to me. We ran back off the pack lands and to the rogues' hideout, where we would wait a few hours before heading back to double-check everything. Then I would inform the Elders of the terrible news that had happened. I would tell them how I went out to a bar last night, hooked up with some random girl, and then returned here to find the scene before me. I would cry and break down, and then, once everything was sorted, they would bring me in as the Alpha, as I would be the sole male survivor. With this kind of planning, how could I not be Alpha material? We waited long enough. I got everyone's attention, and we headed back to my pack house. I hoped clean-up would be quick; I wanted to take a nap since I had worked very hard today. We arrived on the land, split into groups, and did a sweep, double-checking for any survivors. Once it was confirmed, I headed to my office to make the call to the Elders. After informing them of the news while letting out some tears to encourage my emotions, they told me they would be here within an hour. I got up, wiped my face, and headed to find my girl Annabelle, beaming ear to ear. I arrived at her house and went to the kitchen, making my way to the door of her safe room. But when I got there, my heart stopped, the door to the safe room was open. "Fuck... No!" I ran down the stairs, and the place was completely empty. I could see they had been here, the mattress had been slept on, and there were food wrappers in the bin. Someone must have found the room and killed them, but I didn’t understand how. The door was disguised by the wallpaper. Wait, where are their bodies? I checked the bathroom, but found nothing. Unless... maybe no one actually found the room. Perhaps she went outside thinking it was all over, and that’s where it happened? I let out a ground-tearing howl and headed outside to search through the bodies. I couldn’t believe it, I thought she would be safe inside the safe room. How could I lose my Luna before I even took the title? If I find out which one of them killed her, I will tear them apart. I step outside and inform the rogues that they must return to the hideout before the Elders arrive. I assure them that I will come for them once the area is secure, and I begin my search for my Luna. I search tirelessly, surrounded by countless bodies. But I can't find her. I can't find my Luna. Suddenly, I notice movement from the corner of my eye and instinctively take a fighting stance. Did we overlook someone? Emerging from the treeline, I recognize her from the rogues; she stands out because she is an exceptional fighter. "What are you doing back here? I instructed everyone to stay at the hideout until I returned!" I bark at her, my frustration mounting. "I know, but I’m on my own. I saw you earlier inspecting the house, and when you came out, I noticed you searching the bodies. I can help you." she replies with a smile, but I still struggle to trust her or any of them, for that matter. "How can you help me? Why do you want to?" I question, still annoyed. "You are now my Alpha, and I want to demonstrate my loyalty. There's something you don't know about me. My name is Melissa, and I’m a hybrid—half wolf and half witch." she says, a hint of nervousness in her voice. What? I am taken aback, this revelation was unexpected. Instinctively, I know I must keep her safe and close, she could prove to be a significant asset to my pack. "Wow, so how can you assist me?" I inquire, now intrigued. "Do you have a picture of the person you’re searching for?" she asks. I pull out my phone and locate a photo of Amelia with Annabelle, as I often captured candid shots of them without their knowledge. I show Melissa the picture, and she begins chanting while staring intently at it. I have no idea what she’s saying. "She is not here, Alpha. Neither of them are here," she states. "What do you mean she is not here? Where is her body?" I ask, baffled by her words. "Neither of them are here, their bodies are not present, Alpha." she reiterates. Perhaps Melissa isn’t a witch after all; maybe she’s toying with my mind. "Stop messing with me, or I will rip your throat out." I warn, my anger flaring once more. "I’m not playing games, Alpha. I’m just trying to help." she replies, looking offended. "Then help me. Explain why they are not here." I demanded, giving her a mere five seconds before I lose my temper. She started chanting again, this time something different, before giving me a peculiar look. "Alpha, their bodies are absent because they are not dead, they are still alive." she revealed. She then askd for something belonging to Amelia and Annabelle, so I quickly rush to Annabelle’s room and return moments later with one of Annabelle’s hoodies and a blanket belonging to Amalia. Melissa takes them from me and begins chanting again. "They are still alive, Alpha. I can feel their heartbeats." she confirms, nodding. "What the hell? Where is she now? Can you tell me where they are?" I press. She chants once more. "No, Alpha, I can’t pinpoint their location, but I sense they were nearby for a while. Now, their heartbeats seem to be moving further away. I believe they may be traveling." she explains. Damn, my girl managed to escape. I’ve always known she was a formidable fighter, but this proves her strength. It reaffirms my belief that choosing her as my Luna was the right decision. But where is she? I need to find her; she must be terrified out there with Amelia in town. My thoughts are interrupted by the sound of approaching vehicles, and I look up to see the Elders arriving. Melissa is gone; she must have slipped away while I was lost in contemplation. The cars come to a halt, and the Elders pour out, approaching me with condolences while taking in the grim scene before them. Yes, I know, being a good Alpha was always meant for me.
