I made it halfway to my secret spot, looked around, and sensed that no one was following me. I took off my clothes and shifted into Star. Star took off toward the pond area.
Tonight, fireflies were everywhere, flying around in a dazzling display. Star was excited and started chasing them like a little kid. This was one of the few times that Star and I could be free to enjoy ourselves and have fun.
Running about in the moonlight felt amazing. It was as if something magical was in the air. I wished Star and I could stay here for a while, but I knew I had to get back to the pack house before Luna discovered I was missing.
I didn’t want Luna to be mad at me for any reason. So, I had to be the bad guy and tell Star that we needed to cut the fun short.
