My eyes flutter open, and I can feel Jace’s arm still around me. Today is a new day, and I have to leave his comfort and return to my reality. I am still the Alpha’s servant, under his care.
I try to get out of bed without waking Jace but am not successful.
“Where are you going?” he murmurs sleepily.
“Go back to sleep. I need to go to my room, change, and then head down to the kitchen to start breakfast,” I whisper to him.
“Mmm, stay,” he mumbles, still half asleep.
I lean over him and give him a kiss on the cheek. “I can’t. No one knows about us yet, so I still need to fulfill my duties,” I tell him.
Jace opens his eyes wider and sits up at my words. “Damn it! You’re a future Luna; you shouldn’t have to be a servant right now.”
