An unforgettable encounter

Just as I was about to head back to my office, I noticed a shadowy figure lurking in the corner of my eye, and my heart skipped a beat. My instincts kicked in, and I let out a loud shout, my legs ready to sprint away in a split second. But then, I realized it was just the janitor, seemingly going about his night shift duties. He looked just as startled as I was, his eyes wide with surprise, and I couldn't help but apologize for my sudden outburst. The janitor's gaze lingered on me for a moment, his expression a mix of concern and confusion. It was as if he was wondering if I was okay, and I couldn't blame him. I mean, who shouts at the sight of a janitor? I smiled weakly, trying to reassure him that everything was fine. "Sorry about that," I said, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I guess I'm just a little jumpy tonight." The janitor nodded understandingly and continued on his way, leaving me to collect my thoughts. Arriving at my office, I looked down at my designs, still open on my computer screen, and decided it was time to call it a day. I quickly saved my work and grabbed my bag, ready to head home. But as I turned to leave, I realized I had forgotten to order an Uber, and the bus wouldn't be arriving anytime soon. I couldn't even call my dad for a ride, as he would only worry about me. To make matters worse, my car was in the shop, undergoing repairs for a multitude of faults. I wouldn't be able to drive it for at least another week, which meant I was stuck relying on public transportation or ride-hailing services. As I exited the building, the sky seemed to conspire against me, unleashing a torrent of rain that threatened to soak me to the bone. I groaned in frustration, realizing I didn't have an umbrella with me. I quickly retreated back inside, deciding to wait for the rain to let up a bit before venturing out again. While waiting, I pulled out my phone and ordered an Uber, hoping it would arrive soon. To pass the time, I put on my earpods and started listening to music, singing along to the lyrics as I watched the rain through the see-through glass. The music and the sound of the rain were soothing, and I felt my tension melting away. I closed my eyes, letting the music take me to a different world, one where worries and stress didn't exist. But as the minutes ticked by, I knew I couldn't stay there forever. I needed to get home, get dry, and get some rest. I opened my eyes, looking out at the rain, and wondered how long it would take for my Uber to arrive. I hoped it wouldn't be too much longer. Just as I was starting to get anxious, my phone buzzed, indicating that my Uber was arriving soon. I stood up, grabbed my bag, and prepared to make a dash to the car. Just then, my head hit something hard, but it smelled nice, it smelled like a rich, woody scent, reminiscent of cedarwood and sandalwood. As I quickly realized I had collided with someone, I apologized profusely, my face growing hot with embarrassment. On looking up, I was taken aback to see none other than Mr. Sage standing in front of me, his chiseled features and piercing eyes making my heart skip a beat. Mr. Sage was, without a doubt, one of the most handsome men I had ever laid eyes on. His sharp jawline, perfectly styled hair, and captivating aura made him look like a model straight out of a fashion magazine. And that scent - oh, that intoxicating scent of cedarwood and sandalwood that seemed to emanate from him, drawing me in with its warmth and depth. As I stood there, frozen in embarrassment, Mr. Sage's gaze locked onto mine, his eyes flashing with a mixture of surprise and annoyance. "Get out," he said curtly, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. I quickly apologized again, realizing I was blocking his path. "Oh, sorry," I muttered, stepping aside to let him and his assistant pass. As his shoulders brushed mine, I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body, and for a moment, I was caught off guard. The impact of his touch was almost too much to bear, and I stumbled backward, my legs wobbly beneath me. But thankfully, Larry, his assistant, was there to catch me, his firm grip on my hand steadying me and preventing me from falling to the ground. For a moment, his eyes lingered on mine, and I could have sworn I saw a flicker of something more than just concern - a spark of attraction, perhaps? His gaze seemed to hold a warmth that made me feel like he genuinely cared. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and gentle. I nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude toward him. "Thank you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. As Larry helped me steady myself, his hand lingered on mine for just a fraction of a second longer than necessary, for a moment, it seemed like he might be interested in me, but then he quickly recollected himself and stepped back, his expression neutral once more. He walked off trailing behind mr sage, leaving me to watch them walk away. I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Mr. Sage was certainly a force to be reckoned with, and I wasn't sure I was ready to deal with his abrasive personality. "Such a jerk," I muttered under my breath, raising my hand in a futile attempt to gesture at him, but the air seemed to swallow my gesture whole. I let out a frustrated sigh and exited the building, the cool night air, a welcome, respite from the tension that had built up inside me. As I stepped out into the rain, I was greeted by the sight of my Uber waiting for me by the curb. I quickly got in, feeling a sense of relief as the door closed behind me and the warm glow of the interior enveloped me. "Vroom," the car took off, and I let out a sigh of relief as we sped away from the building and today's encounter with my boss. As we drove through the rain-soaked streets, I couldn't help but think about my encounter with Mr. Sage. He was certainly a complex individual, and I wasn't sure what to make of him. But one thing was for sure, I wouldn't soon forget the scent of cedarwood and sandalwood that lingered on my clothes, a reminder of our unexpected encounter. The ride was smooth, and the music playing in the background was soothing. I closed my eyes, letting the rhythm of the music and the hum of the engine lull me into a state of relaxation. The stress of the day seemed to melt away, replaced by a sense of calm and tranquility. As we approached my destination, I opened my eyes and looked out the window, watching as the rain-soaked streets glided by. I felt a sense of gratitude toward the driver, who had provided me with a safe and comfortable ride home. "Thank you," I said, smiling as I got out of the car. "You're welcome," the driver replied, smiling back. I watched as the car drove away, I was finally home, and I could finally relax. As I walked toward my front door, I unlocked the door and stepped inside, feeling a sense of warmth and comfort envelop me. The familiar scent of my home was a balm to my frazzled nerves. I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, letting out a deep sigh. It had been a long day. I kicked off my shoes and made my way to the kitchen, where I microwaved a plate of leftover chicken and rice. The aroma filled the air, and my stomach growled in anticipation. As I waited for it to heat up, I headed to the bathroom to take a shower. The warm water washed away the fatigue of the day, and I felt rejuvenated. After my shower, I wrapped myself in a towel and returned to the kitchen to grab my dinner. I sat down at the table, savoring the flavors of the chicken and rice. As I ate, I felt grateful for the peace and quiet of my home. As I finished my meal, I glanced at the clock and saw that it was already late. My parents and my sibling were already asleep, I cleaned up my plate and headed to my room, feeling tired but content. I climbed into bed, feeling the softness of the blankets envelop me. I closed my eyes, and before long, I drifted off to sleep.
