Heather shivered as she stepped out of the old police station. Although it was morning, the sky was still dark. Normally she hated this time of year and wished for sunlight, but all she felt at the moment was excitement. Snowflakes fluttered down from the heavens, sparkling under the golden street lights, lending a magical quality to the air. Then she remembered. It was December twenty-fourth. Christmas Eve. Maybe there really was magic in the air. was"Ready to go home?" Bryan asked. She nodded, not trusting words. If she tried to speak now, she"d just stutter and blather incoherently.
