Chapter 3

Suddenly, the roar of two motorcycles filled the air behind them. Naruto checked the rearview mirror and cursed under his breath. “They’re on our tail!” Sasuke twisted in his seat, spotting the two motorcycles gaining on them fast. Panic flickered in his eyes. “Naruto, faster!” Sasuke slapped Naruto’s arm repeatedly in urgency. “Will you stop hitting me?!” Naruto shouted, already flooring the gas pedal. The car swerved through the streets, weaving between traffic as the motorcycles continued their relentless pursuit. “You know, Sasuke,” Naruto huffed, gripping the steering wheel tightly, “I’m getting married to Hinata soon, remember?” “So?” Sasuke asked flatly, eyes still glued to the motorcycles behind them. “So that means I need to drive carefully!” Naruto yelled, barely avoiding a parked car as he sped through narrow streets. “Oh, great timing for a safety lesson,” Sasuke muttered sarcastically. Gunfire echoed through the streets as the motorcycle riders pulled out guns and began shooting at them. Bullets pinged off the car’s metal frame, shattering the back windshield. “Drive faster!” Sasuke shouted again, this time pulling out his phone and frantically dialing. Naruto swerved sharply to avoid another round of bullets. “Who the hell are you calling at a time like this?!” “Shikamaru,” Sasuke replied coolly as the line connected. “Package is on the way,” he said before hanging up. Naruto clenched his jaw. “You made me jump out of a four-story building!” he yelled. “And now we’re being shot at by biker assassins?! Where did you even find these guys—and this case, dattebayo?!” “You said you needed more money for your wedding,” Sasuke replied matter-of-factly. “So... I found you a case.” Naruto shot him a glare. “This is your idea of a ‘simple job’?!” Another bullet narrowly missed Naruto’s head. “You said we needed to chill! Can we please chill?!” “While we’re about to die?” Naruto added, dodging more bullets as he careened through the streets at breakneck speed. Sasuke glanced at the door handle beside him, gripping it tightly. Naruto noticed and instantly shook his head. “No,” Naruto said firmly, already guessing what Sasuke was thinking. “Yes,” Sasuke replied, his face was serious. “Again?!” Naruto shouted, horrified. “NOW!” Sasuke yelled back. “I HATE YOU, SASUKE!” Naruto screamed. Naruto slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching as the car jerked to an abrupt halt. Both Naruto and Sasuke flung their doors open at the exact same time. The motorcycles, unable to stop in time, crashed directly into the car doors. The riders were thrown violently through the air, landing hard on the pavement with groans of pain. Breathing heavily, Naruto leaned against the open door, glaring at Sasuke. “You better buy me the best wedding gift, you bastard.” Sasuke smirked. “I’ll get you a toaster.” Sasuke quickly jumped out of the car. “Where the hell are you going?!” Naruto shouted from behind the wheel, watching Sasuke sprint toward the unconscious bikers. “Shopping,” Sasuke replied flatly as he kept running. “Wait... what?” Naruto blinked, completely bewildered. From his seat, Naruto watched Sasuke rummage through the fallen bikers, grabbing their weapons—two handguns, extra ammo clips, and even a sleek black submachine gun slung over one of their shoulders. “Really?! Now you’re looting?!” Naruto yelled. As Sasuke jogged back to the car, the roar of another motorcycle filled the air. A rider zoomed toward them, gun raised, firing a flurry of bullets. “Sasuke!” Naruto screamed. Sasuke reacted instantly, ducking behind the open car door. He whipped out one of the handguns and returned fire with perfect aim, hitting the rider in the chest three times. The biker wobbled before crashing hard onto the asphalt. Sasuke exhaled sharply, but before he could even reach the car, the screech of tires made both him and Naruto snap their heads up. A black SUV sped into view from the corner, barreling straight toward them. From the passenger window, a masked gunman opened fire. “Are you kidding me?!” Naruto shouted, gripping the steering wheel tightly. Sasuke returned fire, unloading bullets at the approaching SUV. Sparks flew as bullets ricocheted off the car’s hood and windshield, but the vehicle kept charging forward. “Sasuke! Get in!” Naruto yelled, panic in his voice. “Naruto! Go!” Sasuke shouted back, firing off one last round before diving into the passenger seat. Naruto slammed his foot down on the gas, the car roaring as it sped off. The SUV gave chase, weaving through traffic as gunfire erupted between the two vehicles. “Can’t they just give us a break?!” Sasuke growled, reloading his gun. Bullets pelted their car, shattering what little glass was left and denting the already battered frame. Naruto swerved wildly, avoiding incoming cars and trying to stay ahead of their relentless pursuers. “You’re hesitating too much! Why aren’t you shooting back?!” Naruto yelled over the chaos. “You literally have all the weapons now, dattebayo!” “Moron,” Sasuke muttered, clearly irritated. He peeked out through the shattered remains of the passenger-side window, raising the submachine gun. “Fine,” he muttered. With a steady hand, Sasuke opened fire, the rapid burst of bullets lighting up the street behind them. Sparks flew as bullets ripped through the SUV’s front grille and windshield. The driver swerved, struggling to maintain control. “Come on... come on...” Sasuke whispered, narrowing his eyes. Naruto glanced at him. “Any time now would be great!” “I know, i***t!” Sasuke snapped back, unloading another round. Suddenly, one of Sasuke’s bullets struck the SUV’s front tire, causing it to explode in a burst of rubber and smoke. The vehicle skidded wildly, spinning out of control before crashing into a lamppost with a loud crunch. “Yes!” Naruto cheered. Sasuke exhaled, leaning back into his seat. “Took care of it.” But their relief was short-lived. Naruto’s eyes widened as he checked the rearview mirror. “Uhh... Sasuke?” he muttered nervously. “What now?” Sasuke groaned. Another car had appeared behind them. The vehicle was now tailing them, each one filled with gunmen ready to finish what the others started. Sasuke sighed deeply, rubbing his temples. “I really hate this job.” “You hate this job?!” Naruto yelled. “I’m the one getting married soon! If I die before my wedding, Hinata’s gonna kill me again in the afterlife!” “Not if these guys kill you first,” Sasuke deadpanned, checking his ammo. “Not helping!” Naruto shouted as the chase continued through the city streets. “...Naruto...” Sasuke muttered, narrowing his eyes as he felt the sudden shift in speed. Naruto had pressed the accelerator even harder, and the car roared forward, tearing through the streets at a blistering pace. The speedometer needle pushed past its limit. Sasuke’s grip on the dashboard tightened. “Do you trust me, Sasuke?” Naruto asked calmly, his eyes focused on the road ahead, never glancing at Sasuke. “What?” Sasuke blinked, confused. “I said... do you trust me?” Naruto repeated, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. Sasuke glanced at him, immediately recognizing that look—the reckless determination Naruto always had when he was about to do something insane. Sasuke chuckled, shaking his head, then grinned widely. “You're crazy.” “That's not an answer,” Naruto replied, shifting gears. The engine roared louder as the car surged forward with a speed that felt almost impossible. Sasuke smirked, leaning back in his seat. “Yeah... I trust you.” Suddenly, from the backseat, Choji—who had been blissfully unconscious through most of the chaos—jerked awake. His eyes darted around in confusion before realizing just how fast the car was moving. “We’re gonna die!” Choji screamed, gripping the back of the front seats in pure terror. Sasuke’s eyes widened, and he quickly braced himself, grabbing onto anything he could to avoid being thrown around as Naruto swerved through traffic at lightning speed. “Stop screaming, you i***t!” Sasuke snapped, though his own knuckles were turning white from holding on so tightly. Naruto, unfazed, kept his hands steady on the wheel, weaving through cars, taking sharp corners at terrifying angles, and narrowly avoiding collisions by mere inches. Choji, however, continued to scream hysterically. “We’re gonna die, we’re gonna die, we’re gonna diiiieeeee!” “Naruto, I’ll throw him out,” Sasuke growled. Naruto chuckled, his eyes still locked on the road. “Relax. I got this.” Suddenly, directly in front of them, another car appeared, speeding straight toward them. It was too close, too fast. Choji’s eyes widened in pure panic. “MOMMY! HELP!!!” he shrieked, his voice cracking as tears welled up in his eyes. Sasuke clenched his teeth, squeezing his eyes shut tightly. Naruto remained calm, his hands steady, his focus unshaken. At the last possible moment, Naruto jerked the wheel sharply to the left, sending the car skidding onto another road. Tires screeched violently against the pavement. The car behind them, unable to make the same sudden turn, collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle. A deafening crash echoed through the street as both vehicles exploded into flames, the fire spreading quickly behind them. Naruto didn’t flinch, barely sparing a glance in the rearview mirror as he sped away from the fiery wreckage. “See? Easy.” Choji, breathing heavily, looked back at the explosion and then at Naruto. “Easy?! What part of that was easy?! I almost had a heart attack!” Before Naruto could respond, Sasuke’s phone rang. He answered it calmly, as if they weren’t currently in a high-speed chase from hell. “Shikamaru,” Sasuke said, rubbing his temple. There was a pause as Sasuke listened, his eyes scanning the road ahead. “Yes. The package is secure,” he confirmed, glancing briefly at Choji in the backseat, who was still hyperventilating. “We’ll deliver it by hand. Meet us at the location. As planned.” Sasuke hung up and exhaled. “Hand-deliver? Seriously?” Naruto grumbled. “Can’t we just, like, Uber him?” “Would you trust Choji with an Uber driver?” Sasuke asked dryly. Naruto glanced at Choji through the rearview mirror. Choji, still panicking, was biting his nails furiously. Naruto sighed. “Point taken.” Suddenly, the sound of roaring engines filled the air. Naruto checked his mirror again. “Great... more of them,” he muttered. Two massive trucks sped up behind them, each loaded with gunmen leaning out the windows, their weapons aimed directly at Naruto’s car. Bullets sprayed across the road, pinging off the car’s frame and shattering what little glass remained. “What the f**k!” Sasuke shouted, loading another clip into his gun. Naruto swerved to avoid the bullets, taking sharp turns down narrow streets, but the trucks kept close, their gunmen firing relentlessly. Then Naruto’s eyes widened. Ahead of them, parked in the middle of the road, was a massive six-wheeled truck blocking their path. Sasuke’s eyes darted forward. “Naruto... that’s a truck,” he said, his tone growing more urgent. “I see it,” Naruto replied, still speeding toward it. “Naruto! That’s a big truck!” Sasuke shouted, now visibly nervous. “I know.” “Then why aren’t you slowing down?!” Sasuke yelled, gripping the dashboard tightly. “Brake’s not working,” Naruto said casually. “WHAT?!” Naruto yanked the handbrake in desperation, but with a loud snap, it broke off in his hand. He stared at the detached piece, blinking slowly. “Crap... this is bad.” Sasuke stared at him, his eyes wide with disbelief and irritation. “You think?!” Naruto chuckled nervously, then glanced at the rapidly approaching truck. Choji, realizing their fate, screamed louder than ever. “MOMMY!!!” Naruto and Choji screamed in unison as the truck loomed closer, while Sasuke squeezed his eyes shut, preparing for the inevitable impact. “We’re so dead,” Sasuke muttered under his breath.
