Chapter 3

720 Words
LLOUIS'S POV The bar was loud and I didn't mind. It smelt of alcohol and s*x. I sat at a corner drinking my shot of tequila. The alcohol hurt my throat. It did not stop the pain in my chest. What I needed was a distraction from everything I heard and saw today. I wanted Tiffany and Manuel out of my mind. As I stepped in, a few men winked at me. I flipped my hair flirting a little. I saw their eyes begging for my attention but I'm not one to give them what they want. I found a seat and texted David. He came in ten minutes later, held my face with his gaze for a while. David was someone I thought I would end up with but along the line Manuel got into my life. Before I knew it we were exchanging vows. "Do you still have the company transfer papers signed by Manuel?” " I asked him. "Yes ma'am” He said. “When do you need me to bring them?” “I need a copy of it tonight.” I quickly said. “Is everything alright ma'am? You never asked for the papers. The last time I checked, you asked me to only release it when your son turns eighteen.” "I don't care about that anymore, David. I need those papers. Can you do this for me or not?" He looked at me for a long moment. "I can. I need a week at most." "Thank you." He didn't ask any more questions. He could have seen it written all over my exhausted face and pale skin. David left after and I stayed back ordering drinks. Everytime my mind went back, I thought about Tiffany in my kitchen and how she confidently walked around in short gowns. Her slutty hands on Manuel's chest today in that office. How happy they looked together. While I was taking are of her son m, she was out there with Manuel, going for expensive shopping and f*****g at my back. Maybe they f****d on my couch everytime I fall asleep. I couldn't just stop thinking of how they made a fool of me. But all that was about to end in just thirty days. I ordered another drink and my thoughts drifted back to Manuel's betrayal. He took my daughter from me so she wouldn't share in my inheritance. He made me take care of another woman's child, lied to me and made me believe all his lies. I lost count of how many bottles I drank. The music started feeling good. I laughed in my head. I was going to be a free woman. I will divorce Manuel, find my daughter, live for her and myself. No one else. As I was just about leaving, a loud noise erupted from the VIP section of the club and a few men walked downstairs to the regular side. A man in the middle stood out, his aura was dark and deadly. Felt like he walked around with death surrounding him. And when I looked properly, I instantly recognized him as LoganVonce. The thirty-three-year-old billionaire heir to the Vonce Conglomerate, a ruthless corporate titan, and ironically, Manuel’s most feared and powerful business rival. He was also a fiercely guarded single father, famously known for freezing out the media after the tragic death of his wife years ago. As Logan walked past me, his sharp eyes scanned the room, briefly landing on me. I didn't think. I didn't care. I was a woman with nothing left to lose, and the perfect weapon against Manuel Yale had just walked right into my sights. I stood up, leaving my drink behind, and stepped directly into his path. Logan stopped, his security detail immediately moving forward, but Logan raised a single, leather-gloved hand to halt them. He looked down at me, his gaze calculating and intensely cold. "You're in my way," he said, his voice a deep, smooth baritone that sent a shiver down my spine. I looked straight into his dark eyes, tilting my chin up despite the alcohol coursing through my veins. "You hate Manuel Yale," I stated clearly, matching his icy demeanor. "And I am the woman who holds the keys to his entire empire. Let's talk, Mr. Vonce."
