That night, Sarah rolled her eyes for the tenth time at Andrew as they danced in his club. "How many times are you going to ask me what the vampire looked like? And is that what you want to focus on when my hips against yours?"
"It's just a question, babe." He said, just generally curious. He knew about all the vampires in the city, which meant that it was a possibility it was one of his friends. He didn't get along with all of them, but he did have some friends and business partners who were vampires.
"I really don't know... you would have to ask her yourself. I can give you her number later." She said before pressing her lips to his. All of a sudden, the hairs on the back of her neck lifted and she pulled away from him to look around the club. She couldn't see anything though and the hairs went back down.
"Beautiful... are you okay?" Andrew asked and stopped dancing, looking down at his girlfriend.
"Yeah, I'm okay.. I think."
Andrew seemed to be concerned, but he didn't say anything else. She seemed to be calming down, so he relaxed. But this was not the first time she had seemed tense in his club. He gently took her hand and led her to his office. He sat her down and wrapped his arm around her. "So what has been going on? I know this is not the first time you have seemed tense and have been looking around the club. I'm worried, baby."
Sarah sighed and looked down, burying her head into his neck. "My ex-boyfriend... at first he seemed like such an amazing guy. He was attentive. Would buy me flowers, open doors for me, he even had me meet his family after a couple months of dating. But once I was happy and we had been dating for a while, we got physical. Shortly after, I found out he had been cheating on me the entire time. I broke up with him, but he was very, horrible afterwards. Coming to see me at my work, leaving nasty voicemails, and even trying to use my family to get me to take him back. Nothing worked, but he hasn't let up. Even after years of us being apart."
"Hey, I'm right here and I'm not going to do anything like that to you. I may be immortal, but you mean everything to me. I promise that I won't do that to you and I will protect you from him. I don't know if he would do anything to you, but I won't let him either way." He said and wrapped her up into a hug.
He couldn't believe she had been through that and dated someone like that. Back when he first became what he is, he would drain the blood of guys like that. He didn't kill them; he's never killed anyone, but he would target those who hurt people. Especially children and females. Some of those people had changed their lives after he drained some of their blood, scared by what would happen if they continued with the life they were living. But sadly, more often that not, they didn't change. They kept their lives the same as they always had been. So he stopped what he had been doing. He couldn't stand to watch people almost lose their lives and go back to being how they always had.
"Thank you... I know you wouldn't hurt me. I mean, you obviously have had plenty of chances. You never have, so it's okay. I trust you more than I ever have. And that hasn't changed."
"Good. Then why don't we get back out there and finish our dance?" He asked and held out his hand for her to take.
"Definitely. I love you so much." She said and took his hand, going back to the dance floor. She felt a lot calmer and relaxed now that Andrew knew about her ex-boyfriend. Hopefully her gut instinct was wrong on his subject and he had no idea where she hung out. If he found out, there wouldn't be much holding him back from doing something. He would be able to see when Andrew left her side and do almost anything. He had threatened to hurt her if he found her.
"I love you too, beautiful." He said and spun her around, letting her grind into him as they danced to the music. He loved her so much and he might ask later what her ex-boyfriend looked like, so he would be able to help her and look out for him if they ran into each other. He may even tell his security to not allow him in, so he wouldn't be able to get to her in the club. He leaned forward and kissed her cheek as they danced, pressing herself closer to himself. There would be nothing she would have to worry about with him around.
