Continuation from previous chapter…
Adelaide's P.O.V
(1 hour later)
We stop in front of David’s house’s gate. It’s a very modern double-story house. Benji presses the intercom, there is a camera also attached to the intercom, so David can see who is at the gate. He opened the huge steel gate and we drove past a huge fountain with a dolphin in the middle with water spraying out of its mouth.
We stop in front of his house, where there are already a few cars parked. We get out and walk to his front double oak door. Before we can press the doorbell, the door opens and David welcomes us with a huge smile. At least Lydia already told him that my three bodyguards are coming with.
He welcomes us inside his house and gives Lydia a peck on her cheek and gives her a hug. “Come on everyone, let us get something to drink and I will introduce you to my friends, some of them are my colleagues as well.” We walk through his foyer into a huge living room.
There he introduces us to some of his friends. Lydia immediately goes stiff, because she sees that Doctor Gemma Jenkins is also here. She is busy talking with another guy. “Don’t worry Lyds. You are here as David’s guest.” I whisper into her ear. She gives me a small smile. “Yeah you’re right Addie. Besides he is my man now, well almost. I’m sure he will ask me to be his girlfriend real soon.” Her attitude immediately changes and she stands up straight with her head held high. I give her a nudge with my shoulder. “That’s the spirit girl.” I give her a high five. While we were busy with our little conversation, David was speaking with one of his colleagues, which he already introduced us to.
My bodyguards are also mingling with some of the people. I told them to blend in with the crowd and I made them wear casual clothes. I don’t want to look like a weird 16 year old with three bodyguards protecting her. They glance at me every now and then to make sure I’m fine.
“Ladies, if you want, you can stay here and chat with some of my friends and get to know them?” He looks at Lydia to get her answer. “Sounds good to me, don’t you think so too Addie?” I smile and give her a nod. “Great, so what would you ladies like to drink? I see your bodyguards already got themselves some beer, Adelaide.” He chuckles and I join him. “Yeah they always blend in with a crowd real fast. I would like a soda please.” I smile at him. “What about you babe? What would you like to drink?” Lydia blushes and answers: “A soda is also fine for me thank you.” She gives him a dazzling smile. He walks past us to the kitchen.
We join a crowd and start mingling with them. He seems to have decent and polite friends. After a few minutes, Lydia and I go and sit on one of the sofas. “Addie I will be right back, I’m going to check what is taking David so long.” She stands up and walks to the kitchen.
Adelaide P.O.V
“It’s a delight to see you again gorgeous…” Oh no… I recognize that voice. I feel a shiver run down my spine. It’s that creepy Dylan guy who was at my birthday party as well. I turn around to face him.
“You better turn around and walk away, before I put my bodyguards on you again.” He gives me an evil smirk. “I have eyes on them, they won’t bother us for a while.” He comes and sits right next to me. Our thighs touching each other. Sh!t Lydia! You better come back fast.
“Why the hell can’t you just leave me alone?” I’m really starting to panic. I can feel my heart rate speed up. “Now why would I want to leave a pretty lady like you all alone?” I can’t just stand up and leave or go to another crowd. He might be one of their friends. He takes my arm by my elbow, but I pull away. “Please just leave me alone!” I say it a little louder than intended. “You little b!tch!”
Suddenly there is a huge guy in front of him pulling him up by his jacket and throwing him to the side. “That is no way to speak to a lady, and I do believe she asked you nicely to leave her alone.” The scumbag Dylan just gives him an ugly smirk. “And who the hell do you think you are? Her knight in shining armor?” I can’t help but giggle at that. Because this guy is huge, he can easily beat up Dylan.
The guy looks at me. Oh my… He is gorgeous… His skin is tanned and he has gorgeous black hair with forest green eyes with specks of yellow around his irises. He has a perfect square sculpted jaw line. I’m sure someone as perfect as him can’t be human, maybe a Superhuman… But oh my he must definitely be a model… We stare at each other for a while. Then he looks back at Dylan. “I’m the one who’s going to kick your @ss if you don’t get out of here right now.”
By now a small crowd has gathered around us, including my bodyguards. “Fine, I will leave, but only because it won’t be a fair fight. But mark my words… This is far from over…”With that said he walks towards the foyer, and James makes sure he leaves.
The guards immediately ask if I’m fine and I assure them I’m all right, and they should continue their mingling. The mysterious guy is still standing near me. Once the guards leave he comes and sits next to me on the sofa. It's weird, but I don't get that same creepy feeling from him like I did with that @sshole Dylan.
Daniel’s P.O.V
I stand here, busy talking with one of David’s friends, when I notice David coming in with two beautiful ladies. I know my cuz told me he has been dating a brunette beauty, so I guess the dark-haired girl is the one he’s been talking about. But it’s not her that catches my attention first, it’s the blonde one. From where I stand I can see her mesmerizing blue eyes pop out. It’s like those sky blue eyes are calling out to me.
I see David introducing them to a few people. That f#cker better come and introduce them to me too. I would love to get to know the blonde better. I can see she has a body of a model, the sexiest curves I’ve seen in my life. My eyes follow her the entire time. David went to the kitchen and not long after that, I see the brunette also moving to where the kitchen is.
Now is my chance to approach her while she is sitting alone on the sofa. She looks kind of awkward sitting there alone. On my way to her I see a strange guy approaching her. Weird... I’ve never seen him hang out with David’s crowd. I watch them for a while. I can see she looks uncomfortable, and the way he talks to her is disgusting. He takes her elbow in his hand and she flinches away. That’s it. Time to stop this bastard.
I go over to them and grab him up by his jacket and throw him to the side. “That is no way to speak to a lady, and I do believe she asked you nicely to leave her alone.” He gives me an evil smirk. The damn bastard!
“And who the hell do you think you are? Her knight in shining armor?” The f#cker must have a death wish. I hear the blonde giggle. She sounds like an angel. I instantly stare at her, she has a beautiful heart shaped face, with a small button nose, eyes that fits her face perfectly and full plump lips that looks so kissable right now… Damn Daniel, get your thoughts straight.
I look back at the guy. “I’m the one who’s going to kick your @ss if you don’t get out of here right now.” I see a small crowd has gathered around us, including the three guys that came in with David and the two girls. I sincerely hope one of these guys are not her boyfriend. What the hell are you thinking Daniel…?!
“Fine, I will leave, but only because it won’t be a fair fight. But mark my words… This is far from over…” I see the guy heading towards the foyer and I see one of the guys, which came here with the girl, following him. Probably to make sure he leaves. I hear them talking to her to find out if she is fine and after a while they leave and join another crowd.
I go and sit next to her on the sofa. We look at each other and it seems like she wants to say something but can’t manage to do it. I decide to break the ice.
“Hello, I’m Daniel Kingston, and what is your name?” There’s a faint blush creeping up her face. She looks so adorable. “Hi, I’m Adelaide Saunders. It’s a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for what you did back there, with that guy.” She stretches out her hand for me to shake. I take her petite hand in my big hand and shake it. It feels like tingles erupt from where our hands meet. I wonder if she feels it too. “No lady deserves to be treated that way and the pleasure is all mine Adelaide.” I say while still holding her soft hand in mine. She takes her hand away and two seconds later I realize why.
David’s P.O.V
“Oh hi there cuz. I see you two already met. Lydia this is my cousin, Daniel Kingston. And Daniel this is my girlfriend Lydia Marx.” It feels so good to call her my girlfriend at last. I actually wanted to take her out on a proper date tomorrow and then ask her to be my girlfriend, but I just could not wait anymore. I can see Adelaide eyeing Lydia with questioning eyes.
Daniel speaks first. “Congratulations you two, and it’s a pleasure to finally meet you Lydia, because my cuz here can’t stop talking about you.” They all start laughing except me, I’m probably blushing, because it’s the truth. I just could not stop talking about her. She is just truly an amazing person. My cuz at least showed some manners and shakes her hand to introduce himself. “Okay guys, yes it’s the truth, because this lady right here next to me is an extraordinary person.” I put my arm around her waist and give her a kiss on her temple.
“All right, I don’t mean to seem rude, but what the heck did I miss?” Lydia starts giggling at Adelaide. “Addie, David asked me to be his girlfriend in the kitchen.” Adelaide smiles at Lydia. She stands up and gives her a hug. She looks at me with her arms wide open and asks: “May I?” I laugh at her and pull her in for a hug. “Congratulations you two.” She pulls away and smiles at first and then she frowns. “Where are our drinks?” She asks with a confused face. Lydia giggles again. “Sorry we completely forgot about it after David asked me to be his girlfriend.” We all start laughing. “Seriously… You two will drive me crazy one day.” Adelaide says. Daniel speaks up next. “I don’t mind getting us all drinks. What would you all like to drink? How about a glass of champagne to celebrate?” For once my cousin has a good plan. “That sounds great. Is it fine ladies?” I look at Lydia and Adelaide, then they look at each other and shake their heads yes.
Daniel’s P.O.V
I’m glad my cuz found himself someone to make him happy. While they were all busy chit-chatting, I only listened with half an ear. Every now and again I could not help myself and take a glance at Adelaide. She’s a true beauty.
When I heard them talking about drinks I offered to go and get us something to drink. It’s actually just an excuse to get to know Adelaide. I want her to come and help me. “Adelaide would you mind helping me to get the champagne and the glasses please?” She looks at me with those two beautiful blue orbs. “Yeah sure lead the way Daniel.” The way she says my name gives me a warm feeling deep inside my chest.
“No my lady... Ladies first..” I bow a little and wave my hand to the side, showing her to lead the way. She just giggles and starts walking towards the kitchen. I hear David in the background ‘Wow when did my cuz learn any manners?’ I just laugh and walk behind Adelaide. Damn that skinny jean accentuates her sexy @ss beautifully. Stop thinking like an @sshole Daniel. She is a proper girl with manners and comes from the high class society. Well, at least she doesn’t act like all those rich stuck up b!thes I hanged out with before.
Once we reach the kitchen, I walk past her, accidentally brushing my arm against hers. Once again I feel the tingles. She is so short in comparison to me, I’m 2.0 m tall, and my guess is, that she is about 1,65 m tall. While I’m looking in the fridge, I look at her and she looks so uncomfortable. “Adelaide you can take a seat on one of the bar stools if you want. I will get the champagne and glasses ready. I will carry it on a tray.”
I look at her and suddenly all the blood drains from her face. She is looking at something behind me. I turn around and see the prick that bothered her earlier standing there pointing a gun at us. My first instinct is to get to Adelaide and block her from him. So I did just that. She is now standing behind me.
The bastard decides to talk. “I told you, this is not over so now both of you are coming with me.” I can hear Adelaide take a gasp behind me. Most probably because she got a fright hearing those words. It breaks my heart knowing I can’t do anything at the moment with that guy pointing the gun at us. He sounds half-drunk so I don’t want to push his buttons right now.
“Sure man, we will co-operate but please lower your gun. You are scaring the lady.” I reach at the back with one of my hands and take her hand in mine. I hope it will help as some sort of comfort and ease her nerves.
“I don’t give a flying f#ck! Both of you come here slowly, before anyone else comes into the kitchen, we will escape through the back yard.” I turn around quickly and whisper to Adelaide. "Adelaide I know you don’t know me that well, but please trust me. I will get us out of this. Just please co-operate with him now." She nods her head up and down.
“Enough with the whispering, come on!” I take Adelaide’s hand in mine and start walking towards him. As we get closer to him he takes steps backward still pointing the gun at us, until we are outside. He walks behind us and we follow his directions. We walk along the side of the house, because there are a lot of bushes so no one can see us.
Eventually we get to the back yard, where he cut a hole through the metal fence to get through. The bastard was clever, he knew the alarm system were off, because David was throwing a party. First Adelaide climbs through, I help her so she won’t hurt herself, then I climbed through and lastly the prick. I almost thought this would be a great opportunity to overpower him, but he had his gun pointed at me the entire time.
Behind David’s house there is a road. So the bastard had this all planned out. He gave Adelaide cable ties and told her to tie me up. She did it with trembling hands. He let me climb in the back of his white van. He then cable tied Adelaide’s hands together and helped her in. She sat next to me. He closed the door. And I could hear him lock it.
Adelaide’s P.O.V
My whole body is trembling. I’m so scared right now. Daniel starts talking to me. “Adelaide I know you are really scared right now, but I will get us out of this. Please, you have to believe me. I’m just waiting for the perfect moment.”
I barely know him but somehow his words are soothing to hear and I believe him. “I’m sorry Daniel. This is my entire fault.” I start telling him about my birthday party and that the guy was there also and I tell him about my parents’ problems as well. After I spoke I just started crying. I could not help it. The last few weeks have been tough on me. Daniel sits closer to me, trying to comfort me. “It’s not your fault this guy is a lunatic Adelaide. Please calm down and stop crying.”
Just the sound of his voice, has a calming effect on me. And I know he is right. I have to calm down and stop crying. I wipe my tears off and start taking deep breaths in and out. After a while, which felt like and eternity, the van stops.
“Remember Adelaide, please try and stay calm and promise me you will listen when I tell you to do something?” Daniel tells me. I try to look him in the eyes, but it’s too dark in the back of this van. “I promise Daniel. But please don’t do anything reckless.”
We can hear the back of the van unlocking. And just before it opens Daniel says: “I promise I won’t be reckless Adelaide.” The door opens. The guy tells us to get out. I try and speak with him. “Dylan why are you doing this?” He does not even reply.
“Get out, both of you, and no funny business, I won’t hesitate to use this gun.” We both move forward with our bums and feet and eventually we are out of the van. I have no idea where we are, but it must be a scruffy part of town. He leads us down an alley. “Time to take you to the big boss @sshole.” He looks straight at Daniel while saying it. I thought the guy is after me. Daniel and I look at each other confused. “Come on, walk faster. We are almost there.” Dylan’s phone starts ringing.
Daniel's P.O.V
So his name is Dylan, somehow it sounds familiar, but before I can dwell on that thought for too long the prick’s phone starts ringing. This is the chance I’ve been waiting for. Dylan answers his phone. But I block it out.
I whisper to Adelaide. “When I tell you to run, you run okay? Try and get some help.” The guy is still pointing the gun at us, but he is so engrossed in his phone call. This is the perfect opportunity. I break my cable ties loose. While he is not looking I kick the gun out of his hand and it lands between lots of rubble. “Adelaide run!” I shout at her. The f#ckers phone also fell on the ground and I step on it making it crush to bits.
Adelaide's P.O.V
I have to keep on running…! I have to keep on running…! I keep repeating these words in my mind, like a mantra. Over and over again... I don't know for how long I will be able to keep on running, or shall I say half running half limping, at this pace.
“Ouch! This really hurts! I hope my ankle will be fine!” My doctor said I should take it easy the next few weeks. With my left ankle injured it's difficult to move too fast. I run past a few dodgy looking buildings. Some of them have windows broken and the paint is peeling off the walls. Even though it's quite dark outside the moon is shining bright in the cloudless sky.
I can make out a few of the shop's names. Sable's Supermarket, Cell repairs… I don't even make an effort to look at the rest. I see a few people going through the rubbish bins, probably looking for something to eat. I feel sorry for them, but I’m not willing to ask them for directions to a police station, because I’m too scared. You never know what type of people they are. The only thing I'm focusing on now is to get as far away as possible from this dodgy-looking place.
I’m definitely not in a good part of town. Hopefully, I will get to a Police station or at least a telephone booth so I can phone someone to come and fetch me. Damn! My ankle is throbbing from the pain! I know it is because of all the pressure I'm applying on it by running. Come on Adelaide! I know I can do this! I just hope he's alright...
Daniel's P.O.V
Thank f#ck she listened when I told her to run. Now I just have to take care of this piece of sh!t… Damn! That blow to my stomach hurt! I grab my stomach, but not for long before I stand up straight again. I’m standing in a fighting stance with my legs slightly apart and my arms in front of me, ready to block another blow if it’s necessary. I know I only need to throw in a few good punches before he's out. I throw a punch to his left jaw, but he dodges it.
“That blow to your stomach hurt, didn't it? I told you before, this isn't over. I'm gonna f#ck you up really good before taking you to the boss.” Wtf! Does he actually think he stands a chance against me? Hell no! And who is this ‘boss’ he’s referring to?
“You better shut up, before I do it for you! You messed with the wrong guy and you’re going to regret it!” He just looks at me with an evil smirk plastered across his face. He tries to give me another punch in the stomach, but this time I'm ready and block the punch with my hands and simultaneously knee him in his stomach with my left knee. He groans in pain and grabs his stomach with both hands. Well, all these Cage fighting sessions I’ve been going to seems to come in handy now.
“Where's the smirk now you prick? I told you before... You are going to regret this.” He looks up at me from his half-bent forward position. The pain is clearly visible on his face. I take advantage of this and take his head in both my hands and knee him straight in the face, this time with my stronger leg's knee, the right leg. I see blood spilling from his mouth and I'm sure he's about to lose a tooth or two.
Before he gets the chance to fall backward, I grab his head at the back with my left hand, taking a hand full of his hair in my hand to get a steady grip on his head. I throw his head against the brick wall on my right and I see a tooth falling out. Damn!!! His body goes limp and he falls backward with his head hitting the cement floor first. Time to get going! I need to find Adelaide. I start running in the direction I saw her going in.
Adelaide’s P.O.V
I don’t know how much further I can go. All I know is that I will push myself to the very limits if I have to. I am a strong person! I have to keep on going. I hate being in a situation I can’t control! What if he catches me again? What if I just keep on going for nothing? I can barely think straight with this excruciating pain in my ankle. I’m starting to feel dizzy...
Damn Lydia for making me go to this party! I really didn’t want to go, but nooooo.... She thought it would be a good idea to get out and have some fun especially after everything I went through. 'It's a good way to start the summer holiday of.' Yeah RIGHT! Well, this is most definitely not my idea of having fun. I would much rather be at home laying on my favorite couch in front of the TV, binge watching my favorite series, ‘Game of thrones’ or watch a horror movie, stuffing my face with popcorn.
“Horror movie! Really Adelaide! You’re thinking of horror movies in a time like this? I'm seriously busy going crazy!” There I go again... Talking to myself like some lunatic. If someone had to hear me now, they would definitely think I’m cuckoo and lock me up in a mental institute.
Great!!! There is a phone booth just up ahead! I’m instantly brought back to reality by someone shouting at me from across the street. It is three, heavily drunk looking guys eyeing me suspiciously. I do not have a good feeling about this at all, and I feel a chilly wind in the air. I wish I had my jacket with me, but it's still at David's place. I'm instantly feeling cold and I feel a chill run down my spine..
“Hey pretty little thing! Come here! We wanna have some fun with you. We promise to play nice.” I look across the street and see the three of them walking towards me. I instantly start running again as fast as I am able to go. I’m getting dizzier by the second and the pain is unbearable. I try my best to keep on going but the darkness is busy taking over. The last thing I remember, before complete darkness takes over, is the barely audible voice of an angel.
Daniel’s P.O.V
I hope I’m going in the right direction! Not that there is a lot of paths she could have taken. This is a main road with a lot of small shops, and I noticed she went to the right side when she left the alley where we were being held captive. I’m sure she wouldn’t have dared to go into another creepy alley. F#ck I just hope it’s not that idiots that are after me again and my biggest regret then is that she is being dragged into my sh!t! Damn I have to find her and fast, before she runs into more filthy bastards.
“Adelaide! Adelaide! Can you hear me?!” I hope she replies so I can at least get an indication of where she is at.
“Adelaide please answer me! You are safe now, I promise! Please just reply…” I say those last words, barely a whisper, with a defeated sigh. Oh, Adelaide, where are you? I’ve barely known her for a few hours now, but somehow it feels like I've known her for a long time. It's like I have a magnetic pull towards her that I can't even begin to understand. And every time I touch her it feels like small tingles erupts from where our skin touches. Super weird, I know! I’ve never had this type of attraction toward any of the girls I’ve been with. And when she speaks with that angelic voice of hers, I start to get butterflies in my stomach. Or when she giggles, I swear it's the sweetest thing I have ever heard in my life.
Suddenly I’m pulled out of my train of thoughts by the sight in front of me. OH NO!!!
To be continued…
