The next day, Lizzy headed to her Poli-Sci lecture, while Priya had a Marketing class on the other side of campus.
As Lizzy walked into the auditorium, she spotted Ethan sitting a few rows ahead, looking as icy as yesterday. Genevieve was also there, flipping through notes. She glanced up, caught Ethan's eye, and smiled sweetly.
Lizzy took a seat nearby, curious about the drama unfolding.
Genevieve "accidentally" dropped her pen near Ethan's foot. Ethan picked it up, handed it back, and went back to taking notes.
Genevieve's smile faltered for a second before she tried again .
Meanwhile, Priya was in her Marketing class, scribbling notes furiously. Her prof was dissecting the latest case study, and Priya was determined to ace it.
As Genevieve tried to catch Ethan's eye again, he suddenly stood up and walked out of the auditorium, leaving her looking surprised.
Lizzy raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Guess someone's not playing ball ."
The prof paused, slightly annoyed, and continued lecturing.
Meanwhile, Priya was in her Marketing class, getting more and more invested in the case study. She texted Lizzy: "Omg, this case is EVERYTHING. You?"
Lizzy replied, "Ethan just ghosted Genevieve in class "
Priya sent back, "Lizzy"
Genevieve's expression turned icy as she realized Ethan had ditched her. She quickly gathered her things and left the auditorium, probably to find out more about the mysterious Ethan.
Lizzy texted Priya: "Gen just stormed out. Guess she's on the hunt "
Priya replied, "Should we prep for drama? "
Lizzy grinned, typing back, "Definitely "
Ethan, meanwhile, was spotted in the library, looking as chill as ever, typing away on his laptop.
As the day went on, Genevieve's social media started blowing up with cryptic posts, all seeming to subtly target Ethan.
Lizzy showed Priya the posts over coffee. "Look at Gen go "
Priya laughed. "She's not playing nice "
Ethan, oblivious to the drama, was spotted grabbing lunch alone, still typing away on his phone.
Genevieve walked up to his table, a fake smile plastered on. "Mind if I join?"
Ethan looked up, expression unreadable. "Not at all."
Lizzy and Priya walked into the cafeteria, chatting about their morning. As they scanned the room for a seat, they spotted an empty table by the window and headed for it.
As they approached the table next to Ethan's, Genevieve was trying to join him.
Genevieve's smile didn't falter. "Oh, come on ."
Just as Genevieve turned to grab a chair, she "accidentally" bumped into Lizzy, causing her to spill coffee all over Ethan's notes and lap .
Ethan jumped up, cursing under his breath.
Lizzy's eyes widened. "Omg, I'm so sorry!"
Priya jumped in. "Clay, calm down! It was an accident!"
Ethan's glare was fixed on Lizzy, but as he reached out to steady her, his grip on her arms was surprisingly gentle. "Watch it."
Lizzy's face flushed as she met his intense gaze. "I said sorry..."
Priya defended Lizzy. "Ethan, back off. It was Genevieve's fault."
Genevieve's smile faltered, realizing her plan had backfired.
Ethan let go of Lizzy, his expression unreadable. "It's fine. Just...be careful."
Lizzy and Priya found a new table, still processing the awkward encounter. Priya leaned in. "Girl, what was that? "
Lizzy rubbed her arm, still feeling Ethan's grip. "No idea, but Genevieve's got a thing for him, clearly."
Priya nodded. "And he seems like trouble ."
Lizzy shrugged. "Not my problem."
Meanwhile, Genevieve sat down next to Ethan, her smile back in place. "Guess accidents happen ."
Ethan's gaze flicked to Lizzy before returning to Genevieve. "Yeah. Accidents."Genevieve's eyes narrowed slightly.
As Genevieve tried to steer the conversation back to herself, Ethan's phone buzzed. He checked it, his expression unreadable, then stood up. "Gonna grab more coffee."
Genevieve's smile faltered. "I'll come with..."
Ethan's tone was firm. "No, stay."
As he walked off, Lizzy and Priya walked by, chatting with some classmates. Ethan's gaze met Lizzy's briefly, then he looked away.
Priya nudged Lizzy. "Think he's avoiding Genevieve "
Lizzy shrugged. "Not my circus."
Ethan returned with his coffee, standing by the table rather than sitting. "I'll catch you later, Genevieve."
Genevieve's face fell. "Ethan..."
Ethan was already gone.
Lizzy and Priya observed from afar. Priya whispered, "Guess someone's got a fan "
Lizzy rolled her eyes. "More like a hater "
Genevieve stormed off in the opposite direction, looking furious.
Lizzy and Priya exchanged a look, then Priya whispered, "Think Gen's about to make a move..."
Lizzy raised an eyebrow. "Against who?"
Priya nodded towards Ethan's retreating form. "Him."
Lizzy shrugged. "Bring it on."
As they watched, Genevieve appeared at Ethan's usual spot in the library later that day. He looked up, unsurprised.
Genevieve sat down. "We need to talk."
Ethan leaned back. "About?"
Genevieve's voice dropped. "You blowing me off."
Ethan's expression didn't change. "I wasn't aware we had plans."
Genevieve's eyes flashed. "You know what I mean."
Lizzy happened to walk by the library, spotted the scene, and smirked. She texted Priya: "Gen's getting nowhere "
Priya replied, "Guess Ethan's playing hard to get "
Just then, the school's social media lit up: "Alicia Keys LIVE at McGill's Spring Gala! All students welcome "
Lizzy's eyes widened. "Omg, I need to get tickets!"
Priya grinned. "BFFs forever, right?"
Genevieve's eyes narrowed, thinking of the perfect plan to corner Ethan at the Gala.
Genevieve smiled to herself, thinking she'd have the perfect opportunity to get Ethan's attention at the Gala. She texted her friends: "Gala plans, activate "
Days flew by, and the Gala was now a week away.
In school, students buzzed about the upcoming event. Genevieve was with her clique, gazing at the contest flyer. "Omg, so many students are entering the talent show! We have to crush it!"
Meanwhile, Lizzy and Priya were walking towards the school gate, chatting. Priya mentioned, "I heard the Gala's gonna be lit! So many students contesting...The Fusion dancers are favorites to win."
Lizzy nodded. "Yeah, and I heard Rohan's group is doing a sick beatbox show. The Renegades are doing a band performance too."
Genevieve walked by, overhearing them. She smiled, thinking of her plan.
The Renegades, Fusion dancers, and Rohan's group were all popular students known for their talents.
Genevieve walked past Lizzy and Priya, smirking to herself, thinking of how she was gonna corner Ethan at the Gala.
She joined her friends, "Gala plans are coming along. I'll make sure Ethan's impressed."
Her friends nodded in agreement. "Definitely, Gen! "
Meanwhile, Lizzy and Priya were chatting about the event. Priya said, "The Fusion dancers are gonna win the talent show."
Lizzy shrugged. "We'll see. Kendra's got a strong entry too."
