Seraphina POV
I feel like we have been driving forever. My father's phone rings and I watch his body tense. He puts the phone to his ear and though I can only hear one side of the conversation, I know it is Caspian. My heart aches thinking about him. Why the hell didn't he accept my rejection? I know what I said to him, but I have no intention of being with anyone else. Maybe the goddess will see fit to give me a second chance, but that can't happen until our bond is broken.
"It's not happening Caspian. You made your bed, now lie in it," my father says, and cuts the call. His eyes meet mine in the rear view mirror and I hate the sadness and pain I see in them. I know he had hoped I would have a mateship like the one he shares with my mother. "I'm alright, dad." "You know you don't always have to be so strong. You are allowed to hurt and be sad. The id*ot of a boy hurt you. He should have told you the truth and all of this could have been avoided," he says.
"He should have kept his d**k in his pants." I cover my mouth with my hand, not meaning to have said that out loud. My mother laughs and my father soon joins her. "No truer words were ever spoken. I want you to take the time you need to heal here, Fina. I know you need time, but I will not let that little sh*t or your brother take from you what is your birthright," he says.
"Dad, I don't know if I can go back and face him. Especially if he decides to take her as a chosen Luna." "Let's not talk about all that right now. You never know you might find a chosen mate of your own," my mother says. Harmony whimpers and I hate that she is missing her mate. Dad pulls up to a large metal gate just as my phone rings. The number is unknown, and I debate about answering it. Curiosity wins and put the phone to my ear.
"Fina, please don't hang up. I'm so sorry," Abby says. I quickly end the call. Anger and sadness engulf me hearing Abby's voice. I considered her my sister even if we didn't share blood. How could she keep something so important from me? I thought we shared all our secrets. Then to find out she had been with Caspian and said nothing even after learning he was my mate. "Fina, who was that," my mother asks as we drive toward a beautiful pack house.
"No one important," I say. As soon as my dad parks, I'm unclipping my seatbelt and stepping out of the car. I move around the car to stand next to my parents. We start to make our way toward the pack house when a man who looks like a tank steps out of the large wooden doors, followed by a woman that is as small as he is big. "George, you made it. This must be Jenna and Seraphina," the man says. He pulls my dad in for a hug. "It's good to see you Walter. Thank you for allowing my daughter to stay here," my dad says.
"Of course. My Alpha is a good man. Once I explained the situation, he couldn't have said yes faster," Walter says, giving me a look of sympathy. "This is my mate Megan," he says. "It's very nice to meet you all. Seraphina, we have a daughter around your age. She is very excited about meeting you," she says. "Please just call me Fina. All my friends do." "Come, I'll take you to meet the Alpha then we can get you settled, Fina."
"We have prepared a room on our floor for you and Jenna too, George," Walter says. We follow him and Megan through the opulent pack house. Don't get me wrong ours is nice, but this screams of wealth. Pack members give us curious looks and I wonder if I'll be accepted or treated as an outsider. We take a set of stairs to the second floor and down a long hallway. Walter knocks on an intricate wooden door. "Come in," a deep voice says from the other side.
We follow them inside, and I'm shocked to find a man who is even bigger than Walter seated behind the desk. I mean Alphas are always bigger than other wolves, but these two are huge. "Alpha Rogers, this is George, Jenna, and Seraphina," Walter says. We all bare our necks in respect. "Welcome to the Diamond Moon. I'm sorry for what you are going through, Seraphina. You are welcome to stay in our pack for as long as need," he says. "Thank you, Alpha Rogers."
"I know that you were to be the Beta of the Shadow pack and, though I already have a Beta, I'm happy to have the extra hands for training if you are willing," he says. "I would really like that as long as it doesn't upset your pack to be trained by an outsider." He looks between Walter and my father before he focuses back on me. "Part of the reason I agreed to allow you to stay in my pack Seraphina was because of your abilities as a Beta. You are absolutely correct that the pack would be upset if I allowed an outsider to be part of our pack training," he says.
"Fina, Alpha Rogers, has agreed to allow you to join the pack but also to leave if you choose to, since he's been offered an alliance by Alpha Damian," my father says. My heart starts to race. I never expected to join another pack so quickly. "As your father said Seraphina, I will release you from the pack bond should you ever decide to return to the Shadow pack. Until then, you will work with my warriors. We will tell them you are a distant relation of Walter's. It will help with the packs acceptance of you," he says.
"Do you agree with these terms, Seraphina" he asks. "Yes, I agree." Alpha Rogers stands and grabs what appears to be the pack chalice and dagger. He moves to stand in front of me, and he is even more intimidating. A knock on the door has us all turning toward the sound. A beautiful woman with long flowing auburn hair steps into the room. If I ever pictured the Moon Goddess, this is what she would look like.
I look back at Alpha Rogers and notice the soft smile on his face. This must be his Luna. "Sweetheart, you are supposed to be resting," he says as she comes to stand next to him. I notice she has a small bump and realize she is pregnant. "We have a new pack member. I can rest later. Hello Fina, I'm Luna Isabelle. It's very nice to meet you. Welcome to our pack," she says. "Thank you, Luna Isabelle." "Well go ahead, honey. Get the poor girl squared away so I can show her around," she says.
"That isn't necessary, Luna." "Nonsense that is my job. My husband worries far too much," she says, and I smile. Alpha Rogers grumbles but simply nods at his Luna. I feel a twinge of sadness that I will never have this kind of moment with Caspian. That we will never have a pup. That he will never worry if I'm overdoing things. A hand on my shoulder brings me out of my thoughts. I look into Isabelle's eyes. "Everything will work out the way it is supposed to Fina despite the sh*t show that is happening now," she says.
I blink not knowing what to say. Does she know what happened? "I am an empath. I can feel your sadness and I also was there when your father called Walter. No one outside this room will know what happened unless you tell them. Now let's get you linked to our pack. I'm sure my husband said this already, but you can stay as long as you like," she says. I nod, and the Alpha moves closer to me.
He cuts his hand and allows his blood to flow into the chalice. "Seraphina repeat after me. I vow to protect the Diamond Moon Pack and its secrets. I will be loyal to my Alpha and Luna," he says, and I repeat it. He hands me the chalice and, despite never having to do this before, I drink without hesitation. The feeling of connection to a new pack is overwhelming, but I can tell Harmony feels more settled. This is our home for the foreseeable future.
Caspian POV
I'm in my office working on budgets from the pack when Titus howls in my head. Another tether of our bond to Seraphina seems to snap and I grip my chest. Is she with someone else? "No, you id*ot she has joined another pack. Pledged her allegance to another Alpha," Titus growls. I manage to get to my feet and make my way through the pack house. I must look crazed because not one pack member attempts to approach me.
When I reach my father's office, I knock once, but I don't wait for him to tell me to come in. I push the door open, and he is seated behind his desk. "Caspian, what do you need," he asks, his tone clipped. I know he is angry with me, but right now I don't care. "Seraphina has bonded to another pack." He stares at me like I just told him the sky is blue. "You knew this would happen, and you said nothing." "Yes, George is keeping me informed about everything to do with Seraphina. All he has asked is I not share anything with ou, Marcus, or Abby" he says.
"She is my mate," I growl out. "You should have thought about that before you screwed her best friend. You were warned by both your mother and me about having s*x with she-wolves, especially those that lived in the pack," he says. "I know I made a terrible mistake, but I love Seraphina." "Is that why you were saying it would have been better if Abby was your mate because you love Fina so much. You f**ked up, and now you get to live with the consequences," he says.
"That is not what I meant when I said that. I knew how much I had screwed up, and I was simply saying that it was complicating things with Seraphina. I hate myself for what I did and what she heard because it's not how I feel. The only mate I want is her." "I never thought I would see the day that my son was damn dumb. The only thing I will tell you, Caspian, is that Seraphina is safe and has joined a pack we share an alliance with. Now leave my office and don't come back unless I call for you," he says.
"I am the one that lost my mate. Why are you so angry with me? I'm suffering every minute she is away from me." He is on his feet and in my face. "This pack lost its true Luna because you could not control your d**k. She was made to lead this pack by your side, but instead she is gone Caspian. You have cost the pack its Luna. Now get the hell out of my office," he says.
