1 Meet Harmony

Seraphina POV The warriors groan when I tell them to run two more miles, but none of them break their stride. I know they hate it when my father leaves me in charge of training, but they need to get used to it. I will be eighteen in a few days and I intend to take my place as soon as Caspian returns from Alpha training. He is the next Alpha of the Shadow Pack. I've grown up in this pack, but my focus has always been on being as good a Beta as my father. My brother is Caspian's best friend and I know they both hoped I would give up my title to Marcus, but that will never happen. It is my birthright and the fact I don't have a pen*s has nothing to do with my abilities. I'm one of the strongest warriors in the pack. I smile when I notice Abby heading toward the training field. She is my best friend and the Gamma's daughter. Unlike me, she wants nothing to do with her title, so her brother Henry will be the next Gamma. Abby and I are the polar opposites, but she is as close to me as a sister. In fact, we even share our birthday. Our mothers are best friends and were thrilled that we are so close. When the warriors finish their laps, they stop in front of me. They bare their necks before they all head back toward the pack house. "I love seeing you be the bad** b**ch you are," Abby says. I smile at her. "So are you ready to go dress shopping," she asks and I groan. "Do I have to? I have so many dresses in my closet I'm sure I can find something to wear." "Are you kidding me? Your father gave you his card and told you to pick whatever dress you wanted for Caspian's welcome home party. We are not missing a chance to shop. I want a new dress," she says. "Fine, let me go shower, and I'll meet you at my car in an hour." She squeals and I can't help but smile. She hugs me before she realizes just how sweaty I am. "Oh my goddess, you're gross. Go clean up, stinky girl," she says. I make my way back to the pack house. When I step inside, I head to our floor. I smile when I see my father hugging my mother the second I step into the room. I pray that someday I find a mate that will love me the way my father loves my mom. "Hey sweetheart. How was training? Did you run them through their paces," he asks. "You know I always do dad. That's why they hate I'm the next Beta." "That's my girl. You are going to do an amazing job. I couldn't be prouder," he says, pulling me into his arms. "Dad, I'm still sweaty." "He doesn't care Fina. He thinks the sun shines out your a**. What's a little sweat," Marcus says as he steps into the room. "Marcus, enough. Your sister has done nothing wrong," my mother says. His eyes meet mine and his features soften. "I'm sorry, Fina. Mom's right, I'm just being a brat. I'm proud of you too," he says. "Thanks Marcus. I'm going to head to the shower. I have to go dress shopping with Abby." "Are you sure you aren't really a boy? Most girls like shopping and hate training," he says with a smirk. "Well, I'm not most girls," I say, stepping toward the hallway. Once I'm showered and dressed in jeans and my favorite T-shirt, I head out of the pack house and down to my baby. She was a birthday present from my parents for my sixteenth birthday. Marcus got a car when he turned sixteen too, but unlike my cute dark blue bug, he got a monster of a truck. Talk about cliché. He joked if he couldn't get girls with the title, he would get them with his big truck. He is such a goof. Despite his jealousy at times about the title, I know he loves me. Abby is waiting when I finally reach the car. It takes us forty minutes to reach the human city. The minute we step out of the car, a group of guys are making eyes at Gabby in her pretty sundress. It doesn't bother me because the only person I'm interested in is my fated mate. Abby smiles at the attention, but I know she feels the same way. We both decided a long time ago to save ourselves for our mates. I just pray the goddess doesn't stick me with a man-wh*re. We make our way inside the store and the girl behind the counter gives me a look of disgust when she takes in my outfit. "Do you have a problem," Abby asks. I giggle when the girl looks horrified by her question. "No, can I help you," she asks. "No, you won't be helping us. Based on the way you looked at my friend because she is wearing comfortable clothes, told me all I needed to know about your kind of help," Abby says. "Down girl, she is only human." She turns to face me. "I don't care if she is a unicorn. She has no right to judge you because you aren't wearing what she thinks is acceptable," Abby says. Goddess, I love this girl. "Ladies, can I help you?" An older woman moves to stand in front of us. "I apologize about Rebecca. Obviously, my sister needs to teach her better manners. Now what can I help you find," she asks. "We both need dresses for a fancy party." "Do you have a particular color or style you like," she asks. "I love pink or silver," Abby says and I smile. She has loved those colors since we were pups. "I'm more of a black or red. I don't usually wear fancy dresses, so I'll trust your choice of styles." "Alright, you two head back to the dressing rooms, and I'll bring you each a few choices," she says. An hour later I'm standing in front of a full-length mirror in a blood red dress that hugs my curves. I didn't even know I could look like this. The slit on the dress almost reaches my thigh. "I think this might be too much." "Bullsh*t. You look stunning. The dress looks perfect on you. We can put your hair up and show off the low back," Abby says. I do look really good. "Fine, I'll get this one." I turn, and she is wearing a soft pink chiffon knee-length dress. It fits her perfectly and she looks beautiful as always. "You look beautiful, Abby." "Thank you, I really like it too. Now let's get some shoes and jewelry. Your dad said to go nuts," she says. "Abby, I can't wear heels like you. I'll kill myself." "You do all that warrior sh*t with back flips and round house kicks, but you can't balance on a heel for a few hours. Besides, we can find a pair with a thicker heel. You are not wearing sneakers or flats with a dress like that," she says. When we finish, we head to lunch before returning to the pack. I grab my bags from the car just in time to hear the wicked b**ch of the west talking sh*t. "You know even if you dress a pig up she is still just a pig," she says and her little cronies cackle. "You know you aren't very smart Brooke. Fina could beat your a** without breaking a sweat. You would think you'd keep your mouth shut," Abby says. "What's the matter, Abby feeling left out of the conversation? Don't worry, I have lots of insults for you too. Especially since you've become such a wh*re," Brooke says. Abby looks like she was just slapped and I see red. Before I can lunge at the b**ch, pain ripples through me. What the hell is happening? Everything around me fades away as pain like I've never felt envelops my body. The sound of distant screams and paws pounding the ground is muffled by my own screams. How can this be happening? I won't be eighteen for three more days. "Sometimes severe emotions can bring on your first shift a few days early. Besides, I've been desperate to meet you," a disembodied voice says. "You're my wolf," I manage to croak out just before my bones begin to crack. My body feels like it's on fire and every bone feels like it is breaking. "I know this hurts, but you are doing so well, Seraphina. It's almost over. Just let me have control," she says. I couldn't fight her if I wanted to. The minute the last crack of my bone happens, I have no fight left in me. "It's done, Seraphina. We are finally one. I'm Harmony your wolf. I've waited so long to say those words to you," she says. I can feel her sincerity through our bond. "I've waited for you too. Can you show me what you look like?" "Of course, but I think your parents and brother are waiting for us to acknowledge them," she says. I look through her eyes and smile. Tears roll down my mother's cheeks and my father is beaming with pride. Marcus is smiling, but it doesn't reach his eyes. Harmony takes a few steps forward and drops to her haunches. "You are beautiful sweet girl," he says. "Her name is Harmony dad." He smiles when he finally hears my voice in his head. "Everyone, this is Harmony my daughter's wolf." I notice for the first time more pack members have gathered including the Alpha and Luna. The Alpha looks shocked and I wonder why. Abby wraps her arms around Harmony's leg. "Hello best friend. I can't wait for our wolves to meet," she says. "Hello Harmony, I'm your mom," my mother says. Harmony bends her head and brushes against my mother. I notice that Marcus makes no move toward her, which makes my chest ache. "Dad, Harmony is going to run to the lake so I can look at her." He nods and tells everyone to take a step back. A few minutes later we arrive at the lake and I hold my breath until Harmony leans over the water. Holy sh*t we are white as snow. "Harmony, we are white." She giggles as if I told the funniest joke. "Of course we are silly. We are a blessed wolf born of Beta blood. We will be stronger than most Alphas. We will be evenly matched with our mate. We will find him soon. He will be our other half. His wolf will be black as night," she says. Excitement flows through me. First my wolf and now my mate.
