14 Luna Thing

Seraphina POV

"Fina, it's time," Nicky says, stepping into my room. "Holy sh*t, you are smoking hot all the time but in that dress you are off the charts," she says. I throw my head back and laugh. "Thanks, I still don't understand why I had to wear such a fancy dress. It's not like I'm going to be up on stage with the two of you." Something flashes in her eyes and I step toward her. "Nicky, what the hell was that look about? What aren't you telling me?" "Nothing, we need to head downstairs to meet Zane," she says.

I say her name in warning. "The Shadow Pack were invited to the ceremony since we have an alliance," she says. My heart starts to race and I stumble back. She reaches her hand out to steady me. "Why the hell didn't you tell me before now?" "We didn't know if he would be here? Usually it's the Alpha and Luna of the pack that attend these ceremonies. Obviously we expected your parents so they could see you, but Zane's mother said that Caspian is with them," she says.

I feel like I can't breathe. I wasn't expecting to face him today. "Fina, calm down. You are in control here. You aren't the one that f**ked up, he is," Harmony says. "I'm sorry, Fina. We didn't want you to worry if you didn't have to," Nicky says. I take a few deep breaths. Harmony's right. I'm not the one that should be freaking out. He's the one that betrayed me, not the other way around. "It's fine. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Maybe he is here to accept my rejection." Even saying it out loud has my chest aching.

"I don't think that's the case. Luna Isabelle could feel the emotions rolling off him like a tidal wave. Her words, not mine. She said she could sense fear, pain, and most of all regret with her empath power. Now, as much as I wish you had more time, we really do need to meet Zane. The ceremony will be starting soon," she says. "That still doesn't explain why you had me dress like this if you weren't even sure he was coming."

"Just come with me to meet Zane. He'll explain everything, I promise" she says. "Fine, but no more secrets, Nicky." "I'm sorry I should have told you. I don't want you to think I'm anything like she who will not be named," she says, and I chuckle. "I know you aren't like her, Nicky, but even if you think something is hard for me, you need to tell me." She pulls me in for a hug. "I promise no more secrets" she says. We make our way through the pack house.

I smile when we step into the foyer. Zane is standing in a dark blue suit. He is very handsome. A part of me wishes that I felt more than friendship for him. He looks nervous but excited at the same time. "Are you ready, Alpha," I say, and he turns toward me. "You look amazing. You both do," he says. "Good save, Alpha," Nicky says, teasing him. "Did you tell her what we talked about," Zane asks Nicky. "You know I didn't. You said you wanted to be the one to discuss it with her. What kind of Beta disobeys an order from her Alpha," she says, and he rolls his eyes.

"Fina, Caspian is here," he says. "I know. Nicky told me." He glares at her before looking back at me. "I said I wouldn't tell her about the Luna thing. Never did you say I couldn't tell her about the a**hat being here," she says. "Luna thing, what the hell is the Luna thing?" "Since I rejected my mate, I don't have a Luna to take over my mom's responsibilities. With the pup coming soon, I was hoping that you would be willing to become my Luna," he says.

I open and close my mouth like a fish out of water. "Zane, as much as I love you, it is brotherly affection. I'm still in love with Caspian, and I don't see that changing anytime soon." He laughs and reaches out, placing his hands on my shoulders. "I love you to Fina, like a sister. I purely want you to be my Luna in name so you can help me run the pack. If you decide to take the pr*ck back after you torture him for f**king up or find a man that is worthy of being your mate, then I will release you from your duties."

"You are serious," I say, still shocked by what he is proposing. "I'm very serious. I trust you with my life, Fina. I trust you with the pack. Besides, seeing you walk out on my arm and be announced as the Diamond Moon pack's Luna is going to make that ba**ard regret every mistake he made. I know you still love him and maybe when you are ready you can forgive him if he is truly sorry, but until then we can make sure he realizes just how bad he f**ked up."

I look between him and Nicky. "What do you think, Harmony?" "I think that it's time to see our mate and take our place as Luna even if its not our destined pack. I agree with everything Zane just said. I love Caspian and Titus, but I love you more. If you can't forgive him, then we will figure out a way to move on together," she says. "I love you, Harmony." I can feel her love for me through our bond as she recedes to the back of my mind. "Did you talk to your parents about this?" "My parents are thrilled to have you become my Luna. I think they hoped that it might be more than just us running the pack together, but I've made it clear we are just friends," he says.

"Yes, I will help you run the pack." Nicky squeals and Zane pulls me in for a hug. "Alright, it's time to become Beta, Alpha, and Luna," Zane says. Nicky steps out first. My heart is pounding against my chest when, after a minute, the doors open again. I loop my arm through Zane's, and he leads me through the door. I keep my eyes focused on the stage where Alpha Rogers and Luna Isabelle are standing. That is until I hear a low growl. I know it's him before my eyes even meet his.

I fight the tears that want to fall when I see the pain in his eyes. Goddess, he is just as handsome as the day we completed our bond. "Breathe Fina," Zane says, and I tear my eyes off the man that still owns my heart. We make our way to the stage and Zane helps me up the stairs. I'm grateful because I'm still not the best in heels. We move to stand next to Alpha Rogers. I can feel his eyes on me without even looking at him.

"Thank you all for joining us on this momentous occasion. I am proud of the man that my son has become and trust him to run the pack even better than I have. Today he will become Alpha, and he has asked the strong young lady next to him to become his Luna. I assume that the reason she is standing beside him is that she has accepted," he says. I nod, and again a low growl fills the night air. Low voices draw everyone's attention. "Fina, is this really what you want? You have decided to remain in the Diamond Moon permanently. There will be no chance for you and Caspian if he can prove his worth," my father asks, sadness in his voice.

"I will be Luna in name only. I'm not sure honestly. Part of me wants to run off this stage into his arms and the other can't bear to look at him. Only time will tell what will happen between us. Tell Caspian to knock it off. If he ruins Zane and Nicky's ceremony, I will not even speak to him when this is over." "Can you no longer link him since you spoke the rejection," he asks. "No, I can, but he has no right in my head until I forgive him. He has tried, but I refuse to remove the block." "Alright, I trust you to make the best decision for you and Harmony. I love you, Fina," he says. "I love you too, dad."

The rest of the ceremony goes smoothly. Having the entire pack in my head is overwhelming at first. Thankfully Luna Isabelle helps me to block out the noise. It's still surreal that even if its temporary I am the Luna of this pack. I'm grateful that Luna Isabelle is going to show me my duties while she still can. A wave of sadness washes over me because it should be Luna Anabel but I quickly push it away.

Zane is on one side of me and Nicky on the other when my parents, Alpha Damian, Luna Isabelle, and Caspian approach us. "Congratulations Alpha Zane, Luna Seraphina, and Beta Nichole," Alpha Damian says. I step forward and hug them both before I hug my parents. I'm just about to step back next to Zane when Caspian says my name. I look into his eyes and swallow the lump in my throat. "Can we please talk" he asks.
