On Saturday afternoon, Charlotte asked the manager for a leave of absence.
Yesterday Mia called and asked her to come home for the weekend, saying she missed her and made a lot of food she loved. Thinking that she hadn't been to the Miller family for a while, Charlotte planned to go there on Saturday night.
Now she was not so short of money and still had some savings. She wanted to free up the Sundays to accompany her grandpa.
Mia said she would send someone to pick her up, but Charlotte refused. She didn't want Mia to know that she was working at the restaurant, so she said she would take the subway home by herself.
Charlotte might have to stay at the Miller's for the night. So she asked Mia on the phone if Gerald had moved back in. If he was home, she would leave after dinner.
