I am lying in the hospital bed, watching the lights at the ceiling. I don't have any strength to move. My thoughts, occupied me, wandering around to find the reason why I am here.
I knew the reason, but I do not know why I want to do it.
Why this feeling is killing me, this seems wrong but yet so right.
I close my eyes once more, to ease the dizziness.
When I close my eyes, I feel his finger touching my cheeks.
He stands besides me, I can feel his presence. He whispers, "I am sorry."
Sorry....
I am not blaming him, because this is what we agreed to do.
One time only and ended making me in the hospital.
I hear he is speaking with one of the doctor. I vaguely heard. "Is she okay?" he asked.
"She's okay now, her allergic symptom have already begun to subside. After resting for awhile and regain her consciousness, she can be discharged."
"Thanks doctor."
Then he comes back again, and sits beside me.
Eric.
Why we here?
*3 months before
This is my first time in London. And I can not be more grateful for the opportunity ahead.
I got post graduate scholarship in London and today is my moving day.
Besides my first time in London, this is also the first time I went outside Asia.
I am from Singapore and never thought that by following my friend suggestion to apply this scholarship.
I can move to London. I hope for the next one year will be a great year.
I step out from the taxi and the driver helped me to unload my suitcase. I do not bring many stuff. just one big suitcase and one cabin suitcase.
"Thank you, sir."
"You're welcome, just go straight. Your building entrance is on the right." the taxi driver seem to be very familiar with this place. He probably already brought many foreign students here. Well, I did some research that it was very hard to find accomodation around my university. But thankfully, I connected with my alumni that happen to enroll an internship in Italy, so this accomodation is available for the next 6 months. At least it will give me some time to adapt with the environment and search for the new accomodation.
Okay, let's check my new home for the next one year :)
I went to the mailbox and took the keys as per my senior instructed. Apartment 2B.
Okay it's in the second floor. Someone passed behind me while I adjusting to gear my suitcase up to the stair.
Fortunately, it's a short climb. then I am at the entrance of my new apartment. I checked my surroundings, just next to me that person that a while ago pass behind me. Apparently He was in apartment 2A, he is my neighbor.
He looks like an Asian man. Is he also a post-graduate student like me?
"Hi ?" I greeted him with a smile
He looked at me, annoyed. I think he struggling to find his keys. "Hi." he replied with a cold tone.
"My name, Lucy. I am your new neighbor. Nice to meet you." I said to him, still keeping my smile.
"Yeah, I see." he said.
Okay, I think he do not want to be disturbed.
But I do not know why, I want to know which part of Asia he came from.
"Are you Asian? I am from Singapore. where do you come from?" I asked him gently.
"Look." he sighed, annoyed, "I am not asian, even though I look like one, I am NOT. I born and raise in England. When someone look like asian, doesn't mean he is asian." He replied to me harshly and just right after he finished talking, his keys fell from his pockets.
He picked it up and start to unlock his door. And before he gone. I said, "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just grateful that I thought I met someone familiar in this new place."
He paused and said, "I am not familiar with you." and he closed the door, to be correct - he slammed the door.
Huffftttt.... I sighed, before I came inside my apartment.
Great way to start in the new place.
And I thought, he just annoying neighbour and we won't see each other,
But apparently, fate tell us differently
