Chapter Two

(Unknown mans POV):  I’m pacing my loft back and forth, listening to my boss ream into me, yet again.  “You need to focus, Reginald! I get you’re new to this but you are my LOWEST TALENT HOLDING MANAGER!!! If you don’t find a new client, and fast, you’re done. And not with this company, with this BUSINESS! I don’t endorse failures.” Mary’s voice was shrill, nauseating, but direct.  “Yes, I understand. I’ll jump on right now. I’m sorry, Mary.” I said, trying to make my voice sound genuine. My fingernails were digging into my palms from how tight I was clenching my fist.  “Good.” She snapped. “There’s a new Youtuber moving to LA this week, maybe she’s already here. Tielar De Rose. But word is, she is not represented and is a tough one to talk too. Maybe she’s stupid, or just a b***h, regardless, her channel is quickly becoming one of the most viewed. Try to contact her. See what we can do for her. Do this, SUCCESSFULLY, and I’ll secure you a spot for good with this team. It’s about time we had grade A acts.”  “Yes, ma’am, I will.” I reply quickly. She hangs up without a goodbye. I toss my phone on the couch and sink to the floor. What the f**k? She berates me and calls me a failure, now she wants me to secure this new talent that APPARENTLY won’t talk. Great. I reach over to grab my phone and search ‘Tielar De Rose.’ Instantly a new video pops up. I click on it and begin watching.  ‘So as always, no clue where to start this. But here we go!’ She was sitting in a airplane cabin, with a auburn haired girl sitting behind her. ‘So it’s happening! We are finally on our way to sunny LA! Yes, I got Camilla to move. And by that, I didn’t have to convince or ask her. She assumed.’ Tielar smirked and gave a look to Camilla who started to laugh and threw a pillow at her.  Pretty soon, I was enveloped in hours of videos. How did I not come across her before? She had so many sides. She made dance videos, and she was actually GREAT. She had get ready with me videos, random story times and just daily vlogs. She was a mix of everything, and I was HERE for it. I scoured her profile for contact info before finding an email. “Well, it’s now or never.”  I began typing an email, introducing myself and the company and what we would be able to do for her as an agency. I went to press send, but something stopped me. This wasn’t genuine. A girl like her will see this and immediately ignore it. No. I can’t send it. Not yet. I need to think this over. Really figure out how to make her see that I, not necessarily the agency, can be her best option. I may be newer but that means I’ll give her undivided attention. “THINK REG, THINK!” I yelled outloud.   Two hours later, I had the perfect email composed.  Dear Tielar, This is always so awkward to write out, but why not give it a shot?  My name is Reginald Everton, Reg or Reggie or short. I am a talent agent and have been tasked with contacting you, to see if I can be of assistance. Now I’m going to cut the s**t, okay? I sat here the past few hours binge-watching your videos and I can see the growth you have. I can see that you were not always necessarily an out-going person. Maybe you still like your solitude? I also see that you are new to the industry, HOWEVER, giiiiirl, you got potential.  Now here is a bit about me. I am new to this industry. I haven’t had too much luck getting talent, well, because I'm not the usual agent. I’m awkward, and quirky. f**k it, I’m a tall (6’4) 280 pound black gay man straight from the Bronx. I’m picky about who I work with. If I can’t watch and enjoy the work, why would I want to represent that person?  Which brings me to you. Tielar, I love your work. And I don’t want to place any restrictions on you. Even if the company has push, I’ll fight for what’s best for YOUR interest.  So, what do you say? Can we meet? I would love to meet you in person, before you pick an agent, and maybe you’ll see why I should be your agent, and hopefully, friend. Talk soon. That’s a fact. Reg E.  I read it over once more and press send. Now we wait. I got this. I look at my watch, 8:15pm, and decide to hit the gym.  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- {Tielar POV} Camilla and I had finally arrived in L.A. We were famished from our flight and decided to grab a bite to eat before headed to the airbnb we would be temporarily staying. I have been craving Del Taco for months so I immediately pushed for it, Camilla agreed easily.  While sitting at the table I decided to check my email.  INBOX: 1 New Message - Reginald Everton I looked at the name, that’s a very exuberant name but alright. I opened and read the message. What started as professional and exhausting, having read a few dozen of these ‘talent scout’ emails. I was about to click out of it when his “I’m going to cut the s**t” caught my attention.  Sure, it wasn’t the most professional email, but I wasn’t a professional in any sense. I liked this guy. I decided to shoot him a quick email and make a plan to meet.  Reggie -  I’d love to meet up with you. Not too familiar with the area. Pick a time and place and let me know!  Thank you!  Tielar
