THE STORY OF MY BECOMING

THE SURVIVAL BATTLE

In school,the food was too small and we don't eat early

Oh I cry everyday my stomach,my stomach

Sometimes my chest, my chest

I don't know what exactly was wrong with me

I called my daddy, explained to him what was going on

He was so surprise and don't know what to do but he kept praying for me without looking back

My dad was transferred from kwara to Onitsha,

Wow!

It was a good thing

We where all happy atleast am not going back to that village again

Thank God

Am going to the almighty Onitsha where I won't hawk again nor do any hard job again just to survive

Back to school life

Everywhere seems tough

Provision finished

Seniors maltreated us

There was a punishment we normally call mount the bunk

God this punishment was hell

The first day a senior asked me to do this punishment

My sister was crying on top the punishment I was serving

I entered a lot of punishment because I was never walking with my classmates

I always move around with either my sister or myself

I never had any friend in school

I was so quiet but stubborn at the same time

The biggest mistake I did and never regretted doing them was me always standing on my right and for justice

After my Jss1

I went home to Onitsha

I went for a health test and the results came out complicating

We don't know what to treat

We where just giving a lot of drugs and a doctor letter to be given to the school to serve as a letter of tolerance to some punishments

School resumed

We resumed school

Yes my jss 2 we are now seniors too

Oh my gosh

The sickness became worse than ever

At every slight moment I will find myself on the floor

My name later changed to a slumping senior

Everyone knows me

Grace that girl that use to slump

My life was shattered

I was nominated many times to represent the school in a debate competition but my ill health always fail me

Either a day to the competition or two, it will come back again

This really traumatized me and my sister in school

Everyone is now scared of me

Yes I don't have a friend but these increased the enemity

I cry all night asking God to heal me

Some say " she's faking it" others say "it might be epilepsy"

Others say"it's ogbanje"

I ignored them all

One thing that kept me going is was my dad's encouragement

The sickness became worse and worse that it even happens on daily basis

God

I was frustrated but if never took me off from my academic well doing

I kept my educational records clean and excellent

I always believed in myself

Yes, even with my health I still fight when necessary

I never gave up on what I want

My school is full of horror

I never wanted to say that part

But I still have to say it

Due to my health I was advised to be bathing hot water

So my dad bought a hot water flask for me

I always sneak out of the hostel at night to boil the water in the kitchen

When ever am coming back

I meet different creatures and different things on my way

Sometimes I hear strange noises on my way coming back

There was a tiny short cut I love using while coming back

One blissful night

I was coming back my instinct told me not to use that road but I insisted because is already late and I don't want them to lock me outside the hostel Auditorium

I was close to an old building close to the hostel all of a sudden I saw a creature;

Yes not the first time am seeing a strange creature not second but this one is new to me

It looks like a ghost

No!

Not a ghost

What could this be I don't know

Should I hide

A lot was on my mind

I was just shouting blood of Jesus

It was fast approaching

I was almost dead

I decided to hide finally

I hid at the back of an elephant grass by the roadside

It was so dark

I was even scared of the unknown like snakes

The creature was like a woman smelling so bad

Her odour was too bad that I can't even breath properly where I was hiding

She stood at the junction of my bucket of hot water turned saw no one to the bucket by the other side of the road

I was praying so hard in my heart

The lady, smelling creature refused leaving that spot omo

I was tired of staying there

I stayed there for more than 30 mins

B4 I heard my sister voice calling my name

But I never answered

I know it wasn't my sister even though it was her she won't come out alone by that time

At that point the creature started moving out of that particular spot where she was

The odour nearly killed me

My water was already warm

Immediately she passed I can't stay there any longer

I left immediately took my bucket pour the water away took my hot water flask that I always carry as a school bag and started running immediately I felt something coming after me thank God my sister was at the gate waiting for me

I ran like no other till I got to the gate and entered immediately

They locked the gate and ran inside with me, because we all are leaving in fear

They asked me what happened

But I can't say a word

Next thing was my illness attacked me I slumped till the following day evening they was when I recovered myself and I explained everything to them

That's one of the kind of things we see in my boarding school

Things like this continued

I left this school when my sister graduated

Because of my health, no one will be here with me managing my health and everything

My parents decided to take me out of the school immediately after my junior waec and secondly all those horrible events in school

My dad said nooo

He can't leave me there

Do you know that till I left that school my mom never knew the location of my school

Where am our hostel or school is

All she knew was that am in a boarding school with my sister

At school departure I come back home with others.

Resumption I go back too with them
