When Edison and Samantha got to a safer place far from Harrison. Samantha’s heart pounded, with a mixture of anticipation and nervous energy. This was it, the moment she had been planning for.
During the drive she thought about everything. What if the universe was telling her that Edison was her key to revenge? That he would be the one to help her from all these mess.
She would have to act smug. The truth was that in her past life, Edison was running a Million-dollar company and she remembered seeing it on the news.
Luckily for her the project that had brought him millions happened to have started six years ago and now she had met him the year he was starting.
She would somehow take this to her advantage.
“Why were you running away from your boyfriend? Edison asked “That was Harrison, right, he asked you out on grad day.”
“ Yes it is him, you see I just called off our engagement because he cheated on me and hurt me” Samantha replied flatly.
“wow that’s sad I guess” he said, his lips curving into a sardonic smile. “So what are you going to do now?”
“ I am planning For an opportunity,” Samantha countered, “and revenge.”
Edison’s smile widened. “Revenge,” he echoed, his voice laced with intrigue. “A powerful motivator. Tell me, Samantha, what is it that you desire?”
“I desire a contract marriage,” she said, her voice clear and decisive.
Edison scoffed. “What?”
But Samantha didn’t stop there.
“I saw you smile when I told you about calling off my engagement, we used to have this chemistry back in school so obviously this would be a public alliance that will serve both our purposes.”
Edison raised an eyebrow, his expression a mask of cool amusement. “And what’s in all this for me?”
“well, starting with mine,” Samantha replied. “I want To expose the betrayal that shattered my life and take over my father’s company which my stepmother runs”
“And mine?” Edison asked, his voice low.
“You have your own reasons,” Samantha said, her eyes narrowing. “Reasons that I believe align with my own. What I know is that I would use my Intuition to help you secure any business deal.”
Edison still didn’t feel convinced. “What kind of intuition do you have that makes it different from any other woman I have known?”
Samantha in a bid to hide how she can predict the future as she is from the future she decided to call it intuition.
“Tomorrow on the 21st of august, the buisness proposal you submitted to SK corporations would be accepted and you would be getting about five to ten million dollars profit from this.”
Edison leaned back in his seat, his gaze thoughtful. “Intriguing,” he murmured. “let’s wait then, and see if this public marriage, and strategic alliance has… potential.”
“Potential for what?” Samantha asked.
“For chaos,” Edison replied, his eyes gleaming. “For disruption. For… entertainment.”
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a sleek, silver pen. He scribbled something on a notepad and handed it to Samantha. “My number” he said. “and address.”
Samantha scanned the paper briefly,
“You should be collecting mine, because you would need it,” she said, her voice firm.
“Excellent,” Edison replied, his smile widening. “ I now remember why I liked you so much then”
The next Day everything Samantha had said came to pass and Edison was shocked to the core.
He immediately called her up and announced that he would be getting married to her.
As the coming few days were a whirlwind of activity.
Edison’s PR team orchestrated a media blitz, announcing their engagement with shocking speed. The news spread like wildfire, dominating headlines and social media feeds. Samantha was now the center of a media frenzy.
Edison’s mother, Lady Thorne, was furious. She stormed into Edison’s office, her face flushed with rage. “This is madness!” she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the opulent room.
“You cannot marry this… this woman, someone you have never mentioned to me, someone you barely know”
“I already have,” Edison replied, his voice calm. “The wedding is tomorrow.”
“But why?” Lady Thorne demanded, her eyes filled with confusion. “Why her?”
“Because,” Edison replied, his eyes glinting,
“she is the perfect weapon and I am her perfect weapon too”
The wedding was a spectacle, a lavish affair broadcast live on national television. Samantha, in a stunning white gown, walked down the aisle, her face a mask of serene composure.
Edison, his expression unreadable, stood at the altar, his eyes fixed on her.
As they exchanged vows, Samantha felt a strange sense of detachment, as if watching a scene from a movie. This wasn’t a marriage; it was a performance, a strategic alliance designed to dismantle their enemies.
The reception was a blur of flashing cameras and whispered conversations. Samantha moved through the crowd, her smile fixed, her eyes scanning the room, searching for her next target.
As the night drew to a close, Edison pulled her aside. “It’s time,” he said, his voice low.
Samantha, in her stunning white gown, stood beside Edison, a man she barely knew, yet whose future she held a strange, unsettling grasp on. The ceremony was a blur of vows and orchestrated smiles, culminating in the moment they were to seal their pact with a kiss.
Edison leaned in, his eyes holding a flicker of something Samantha couldn't quite decipher. His lips met hers, a brief touch that sent a shiver down her spine. The crowd erupted in applause, the flash of cameras blinding.
But the moment was shattered by a sudden, violent intrusion.
"Samantha!" Harrison's voice boomed through the hall, his face a mask of rage. He stormed through the crowd, pushing aside bewildered guests. "What is the meaning of this? You can't do this!"
Samantha's heart pounded. She hadn't expected him to be so brazen, so public in his fury. Edison, ever the composed businessman, stepped slightly in front of her, a silent barrier.
"Harrison," Samantha said, her voice steady despite the turmoil within her. "This is my wedding. Please leave."
"Your wedding?" Harrison scoffed, his eyes blazing. "You're marrying him? After everything we've been through? After I… after I…" He trailed off, his anger momentarily faltering, replaced by a flicker of hurt.
"You betrayed me, Harrison," Samantha said, her voice flat. "There is nothing left between us."
"Betrayed you?" Harrison roared, his face turning crimson. "You think this is better? This… sham?"
Before Harrison could continue his tirade, another figure entered the hall, her presence adding fuel to the already raging fire. Elena, Samantha's former best friend, stood at the entrance, her expression a mix of shock and thinly veiled triumph.
"Samantha, what have you done?" Elena asked, her voice laced with a false concern. "This is madness!"
Samantha's patience snapped. She had no desire to play their games, to endure their manufactured drama. She stepped forward, her gaze sweeping over both Harrison and Elena.
"I have made a choice," she said, her voice ringing with a newfound resolve.
"A choice to build a new future, one that does not include either of you. You both have shown your true colors, and I want nothing more to do with you."
"Samantha, what true colors are you talking about?" Elena pleaded, her voice dripping with saccharine sweetness. "We’ve only ever wanted what's best for you."
"What's best for me is to be rid of your deceit."
Samantha retorted, her eyes narrowing. "Leave. Both of you. Now."
The crowd murmured; their attention riveted on the unfolding drama. Edison, his expression unreadable, placed a hand on Samantha's arm, a silent offer of support.
"Let them go, Samantha," he said, his voice low. "They are not worth your energy."
Samantha nodded, her gaze fixed on Harrison and Elena. They stood frozen, their faces a mixture of disbelief and anger. Finally, Harrison turned and stormed out of the hall, followed by a defeated Elena.
Samantha turned to Edison, a flicker of gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
"It was nothing," Edison replied, his eyes gleaming with a hint of amusement. "Just a little… entertainment."
