Chapter 6

I was now sitting right across from him in his office. The man who I didn't know was going to be our new teacher. "Hello, Ms. Harvard." He said and smiled without showing his teeth "I'm sure you're wondering why I've asked to meet when I ran into you earlier today." "Yes, I do wonder.'' I said while playfully tilting my head and feeling my pony tail swing to the right side of my body and over my shoulder while I smiled and leaned back into my chair, abandoning the perfect posture I once had when I first sat down at his desk. "I just wanted to see you in person and get to know what you were like. You have quite the track record. Class president, cheerleading captain, captain of the debate team. It's quite impressive, I must say." "I guess one might say that I like to keep myself busy." I said while I smirked. "I see." he replied and showed his teeth this time while he smiled and let out a slight laugh. "Don't worry, Ms. Harvard, I won't take up too much of your after-school time. I just thought it would be a good idea to just personally introduce myself to all the students on more of a one on one basis before they formally announce my position here at the next school assembly. So I figured I'd start with you. I must say, I was quite intrigued by you after seeing your profile in the school office the other day. "Oh, that's okay, I understand." I said, smirking back at him. As he was about to say something I interrupted him and sat up in my chair, and leaned forward onto his desk with my fingers intertwining and bending into an ark that supported my chin. All while tilting my head as I rested on top of my knuckles, while each thumb rested on each side of my face. "So tell me Mr. Cooper. Exactly, what is your new 'position' here, sir?" I asked, as he looked down and laughed while brushing off his nose with his thumb and sniffing a bit. "Did I just flirt with my teacher?" I thought to myself. I let that very thought disappear very quickly. Or maybe I blocked it out because I might have actually enjoyed this adrenaline, this rush I felt when I was with Mr. Cooper. How can one man look so gorgeous? I then thought to myself. While all of these thoughts were running through my mind, he broke my train of thought when he then smiled and responded. "You're very forward, aren't you?" "What do you mean?" I asked, with more of a straightened face compared to the smile I once had when leaning on his table. "I meant that you seem very straightforward. You don't strike me as a person who beats around the bush. You seem to know what you want and do whatever it takes to get it. You don't really seem like someone who takes no for an answer when it comes to getting what you want." "Well, what can I say? I like seeing things get done. I think we all know that if you want something done right, you might as well do it yourself." I said, while beginning to feel myself smirk again while feeling my tied up ponytail swung over the left side of my shoulder this time. I then rolled my eyes, looked up at the ceiling, and then looked back at him dead in the eye. "I see." He said while he leaned back into his chair and folded his arms over his chest in a resting position, which made him seem more comfortable. "That must be how he sits when he watches TV at home. I thought. All comfortable, with his big strong arms crossing over his chest as he leans back into the couch. "Cassidy, stop." You can't be thinking about this man like this. I said to myself, trying to steer my thoughts into a more positive direction and not wondering what he must be like in his house in front of a TV. He's going to be my teacher. I now knew that whatever flirting was happening on my part needed to stop immediately. "Well, sir, as far as introductions go, you're definitely in first place." I said to fill the empty space and the silence that had now taken over the office. "If you don't mind, I have to go to cheerleading practice now. That is...” "That is what, Ms. Harvard?" He asked with a smirk on his face, putting both elbows onto his table as he intertwined his fingers, joined his hands, and rested his chin on his closed hands. "I was going to say, that is if we're done here, sir." I replied. "Oh.. uh, yes, I believe we are done here, Ms. Harvard. It was great to finally meet the person behind the incredible profile I saw while I was in the main office. I wish you all the best with cheerleading practice." "Thank you." I said, as I broke eye contact from hearing someone knock and enter the office. "Sir." I added to the end of my statement after realizing I forgot to say it while getting lost in his eyes, also while trying to seem like it was a normal meeting with a teacher and student when the lady wearing all blue walked in. I think she's the principals PA or something. "Good day." I said to Mr. Cooper, as I got up to leave and excused myself from the room, thankfully, right before my cheeks went bright red. So many thoughts were running through my mind. "No, Cassidy. I can't go there. I won't. I need to think about Brad." I whispered to myself. "Get it together, Cass. He's our new teacher, this can't go any further." I thought to myself, as I took in a deep breath, raised my shoulders, and breathed out. "I'm fine." I kept uttering to myself while walking down the corridor, heading to cheerleading practice.
