The sound of my phone buzzing loudly on top of my bedside table was what jolted me awake this morning. I frowned, glancing at the clock and discovered that it was already two in the afternoon. Seeing my mother-in-law calling caused me to groan aloud.
Last night, I didn’t know where to go after leaving the ice cream store where I saw Joe and Flora, so I stayed for hours in a shopping mall until it closed, at which point I decided to go home. I was glad that Tina was already asleep when I got to the apartment, or I would have to deal answering all her non-stop questions.
I was drenched in rain, exhausted, and hungry all at the same time. I got in the shower for a few minutes and then went directly to bed, where I promptly dozed off a few seconds later after drying
