~ Chapter 38 ~

Jeff climbed into the ambulance with Lupita, his hand holding tight to hers. He couldn’t bear the thought of her going alone and he was trying to get a hold of Rose. He knew she was working but it was also a busy time for them and calling the dinner would mean that it would be hard for him to get through. But he knew that Rose needed to know what was going on with her mom and he guessed that she would probably freak out too. And though he would want to drive her because she would be shaking so much, he didn’t want to leave his mother-in-law. With that, he finally called Jimmy, explaining that he needed to go pick up Rose and meet him at the hospital. And like a loyal friend, Jimmy didn’t ask any questions, just did as was directed.

The EMTs got Lupita stable enough so she wasn’t coughing
